"We ate there today for the first time. We were with friends who live in the area. We were all delighted with everything. I had the small brisket plate with hushpuppies, baked beans, and Mac and cheese. Cleaned my plate! Great friendly service and fabulous food. Can't beat that!"

"I had brisket, fries and baked beans. They were all pretty good. Brisket was tender and had decent flavor. The fries were fries, and the baked beans had a nice flavor with onions and meat. They have 2 bbq sauces: a vinegar based, and a sweet/smokey. The owner was really friendly, and the place was clean with a small seating area up front."

"Byrd's BBQ is so good even the waitstaff at other restaurants recommend it, especially for great Southern cooking. Just walking in the front door, you can tell you're in the right place - that Carolina style pork BBQ aroma makes you salivate even before getting to see the menu! All ages come, and for their favorite dishes. The pork is pulled or sliced. The sides include the best of the classics, like mac n cheese, collards, and okra (the true test if you are eating authentic foods), the brisket is tender and the Brunswick stew is another plus. Of course, the patron I asked for her recommendation mentioned the banana pudding right off the bat (be still my heart!) A treasure off the beaten path."

"My daughter and I just found our new favorite barbecue spot. Seriously check Byrds BBQ out. I think the owner said his name was James. Super nice guy. Him and his wife run to place. They are natives of Durham. This restaurant has a vibe I can't really describe. You just got to check it out. Right now they close at 5:00. They serve breakfast and lunch but they are expanding."

"I had to take my wig off to enjoy this food. It was so good!! I got the pulled bbq sandwich combo that comes with one side and some hushpuppies. My husband got the small rib plate that comes with two sides. I love it. I've passed this location numerous of times and never gave it a second thought. I'm glad I tried them today and there only five minutes from my house. What I really enjoyed was sitting in the parking lot and smelling that smokey smell. Will definitely be back and may even buy a few plates for my parents. Byrd's thank you!!"
