"- You Get What You Pay For - Shrimp Tempura appetizer, and Miso. Shrimp disappointing taste, texture. Stale cooking oil. Emergency potty calls all night. Miso. Salty warm water w/3 tiny square cabbage scrap floaters. Attempted but 2 spoonfuls."

"Don't even bother going to this place. I went to the bathroom and an employee came in and used it, she didn't wash her hands and left the toilet clogged. The food I received was cold, I found hair in it as well as a dead bug. I highly do not recommend this restaurant."

"Do yourself a favor and skip this place. Shrimp over cooked as it’s all pre cooked as I could tell sitting in warming pans right behind the front counter. I don’t see how this place has 4 star reviews. I cuss people here in NC haven’t had authentic, fresh Japanese/Asian food. Lesson learned- if it has the word express in the title that means stay away. At least for me. Service was good, they seemed like they were half happy to be working there. But I won’t be back. The only thing that was halfway decent were the wings. We ordered the shrimp, steak and chicken hibachi along with a California roll (skip this also the rice was hard) and an order of wings that were halfway decent."

"Called in 3 orders, picked them up and all three were missing the teriyaki sauce. This is actually the second time orders were incorrect so I called to complain and they first said there was nothing they could do, it was just missing the sauce. I complained further then they hung up the phone. I then called back and asked to speak to the manager or get the managers number and they refused to give it to me. They then offered me 10% off my next order making me buy another meal to get some type of compensation. This business does not consider you a customer just revenue, and if there is an issue they will not make it right. I would not buy from Japan Express in Chapel Hill and force them to be accountable to their customers. I also confirmed they knew all orders were teriyaki and it is on the receipt so there is no question. The receipt is attached for reference. Beware if you decide to get a meal from them."

"Wanted to try this place out, and they had a small window where you could order due to COVID-19. Menu was simple. The portions they give you are worth the price! I'd ask for extra teriyaki sauce on the side or soy sauce, since the beef lacked a little compared to the chicken. I'd go there again though!"
