Nakato Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar

"The atmosphere is all they have .. I mean it was boring but the way the place looks is what caught my eye first off our server brung us the soup before even bringing our drinks we sat there 30-45 THIRSTY then when I asked her to bring our drinks she said “OH” not ok I’m sorry nothing like that just “OH” my boyfriend was ready to leave and I had to beg him to not walk out because I craved Japanese all week I just chose this place because of the approximately from our place anywho once we got the drinks our salad came out and you don’t get to choose the dressing they have ginger dressing I believe I didn’t like that never been to a habachi grill that does than next it took another 30 minutes for the cook to come out he gets out and he continues to clear his throat he does have a mask on thank god but I’m thinking because he was older in age the smoke was bothering him he cooks and we eat .. THE FOOD WAS BLAND AS EVER !! No seasoning to it at all I seen a review saying it was overprice and boss and I AGREE ! I don’t mind paying for good food as I’m pregnant and love to eat soo $60 for both me and my boyfriend is what I was expecting but I was expecting good food and it wasn’t worth it this is the first time we left the food on the table paid and left !! KABOTU ON EAST WT IS WAY BETTER EVEN THO ITS SMALLER ITS WORTH IT THEY CLOSE SUPER EARLY SO WE TRIED TO GIVE NAKATO A CHANCE NEVER AGAIN ."

"If I could give this place an half star I would. The service from our hibachi was bar far from what I expected. When you sit down to eat, essentially you’re paying for good service and great experience. The servers were on top of things and provided good service to the best of their ability but our cook……… there was not enthusiasm once so ever, our vegetables were cooked first which were cold by the time everything was done. The proportions were not evenly distributed. The shrimp was undercooked, I had to ask for them to go back on the grill a little longer. The food was sticking to the grill. Just a complete mess. I’ve visited this place many times in the past and it is not the last place I would recommend or eat at in Charlotte. As a content creator that spends a lot of time trying restaurants I highly do no recommend!!! This was not only a complete waste of my money but of my TIME!"

"Beware! If you are newer to the area you will want to make a reservation if you’re wanting hibachi! We didn’t realize and drive 30 minutes, got there at 5:00 p.m. and were told we would have to wait until 9:30 for 3 spots at a hibachi table. Luckily there were still tables available for regular dining and at the bar. We sat at the bar and had the NICEST server. The sushi was wonderful and the hibachi meals that we were still able to order from the kitchen we great! Definitely a good place to come with family and friends."

"I would give zero stars, due to the portion size they give you for takeout. We spent $79.64 on a combination dinner takeout. I would never order takeout from any restaurant. From portion size, price, and customer service went down since covid-19. Besides that, the food was good, especially the garlic noodles. Oh. Not to mention I ordered extra Garlic noodles $3.50. Portion size small!!"
