Nana Morrison's Soul Food

"I REEEAAAALLY wanted to love this place. It sits in a quaint strip mall across some pretty prominent corporate HQs - ie Belk, and a few others. I had very high expectations given the rating here on Yelp, but unfortunately I have to give an honest opinion: Pros: - decent variety of items from BBQ to curry to grilled, etc - great atmosphere and plenty of seating - wonderful selection of desserts - curry chicken was decent - corn bread muffins were fresh and great to dip in whatever sauce you get with your meal - BBQ ribs were fall off the bone tender, and super moist - BBQ flavor was on point Cons: - in my order, the collard greens were SUUUPER salty - inedible after the 4th/5th bite. If you have hypertension/high blood pressure/sodium intolerance (like used to have before getting it under control), please pass... - in my order, the curry rice was even SALTIER than the super salty collard greens - curry (dark meat) chicken was pretty watered down, but given the saltiness of everything else, this was welcomed - decent portion, even if the order was to go - fast, cafeteria style serving Conclusion: I mentioned in the CONS that "in my order" the dish was this way, I'm hoping/praying that maybe it was a super salty/bad batch, and i caught them on an off transition from lunch to dinner (5pm). Maybe next time i'll try the fried chicken/wings...i'm hoping you can't go wrong with that."

"The food here was EXCELLENT. I got the catfish, cabbage, Mac n cheese, with cornbread-everything was perfect. I will definitely be coming back the next time I’m in Charlotte. They did, however, forget my Daughter’s order but gave her a free dessert to make up for it (so we ended up finishing our food before she got hers). She enjoyed her food as well. I gave 4 stars instead 5 only because they forgot to make her meal (she ordered fish as well which had to be special ordered)."

"Came here with our 3 boys while passing through Charlotte. Everything looked really good. It is cafeteria style. I got the catfish, collard greens and Mac and Cheese and cornbread. Our oldest ordered meatloaf/Mac and cheese and stuffing. My middle son ordered the ribs, youngest had fried chicken/ black eyed peas. Everything was great and everyone was friendly."

"Definitely an eatery to have on your "spot to stop" list in Charlotte, NC. Courteous staff, variety of well prepared flavors, extra clean with sufficient seating. Someone has studied Jerkish...the wings are slamming!! Fried chicken wings are at the top of the chicken charts. An impressive family owned eatery with multiple locations and seemingly a family we should mark as an example for many in our day...that's the absolute truth!!"

"We saw their I-77 sign heading back to SC. Wonderful variety of true soul food to choose from. We split a large plate of the daily special Bourbon Chicken, fried Pork Chop, corn muffin, collards, and Mac & Cheese. Holy cow, some of the best M&C that I've had in recent memory. So creamy and cheesy! Sweet tea and Cheerwine to wash it down. The staff is awesome. You have to give this place a try. Next time in town, fried chicken and ribs..."
