ELDR Restaurant
About the Business
ELDR Restaurant, located at 111 Grovewood Road in Asheville, North Carolina, takes its name from the Old Norse word for fire. The concept of fire bringing people together to enjoy great food, unique flavors, and good conversation is at the heart of ELDR. This light-filled and airy North Asheville restaurant offers new American cuisine with a focus on ingredients-driven menu, natural wine, craft coffee, and cocktails.
Open Wednesday through Friday for lunch and dinner service, as well as cocktails, beer, and wine. On Saturdays and Sundays, ELDR serves brunch and dinner, along with cocktails, beer, and wine. ELDR is a collaboration between local restaurateurs Carson Lucci, chef Eric Burleson, and Heather and Jim Cassidy. "We were staying at the Grove Park Inn and were looking at alternative options for dining. We were very lucky to find this gem of a restaurant within walking distance. (It's on the grounds) The food, service and overall experience was amazing. Simple, nourishing food in a semi-casual atmosphere. We can wait to return when the weather warms up to take advantage of the outdoor seating. Check it out. It's worth it!"
"When people care about the food they make and how they present it to others, you end up with ELDR. Listen, I honestly don't even know what to say. Rare for me. Food is religion to me. What someone creates as an offering to nourish others is the most intimate relationship one can have with people not directly involved in their life. What we choose to nourish ourselves with is way too often left to the places that can do it fastest and cheapest. That's just a no-go for me. The intricate details, the textures, the colors, and the presentation are just the icing on the cake here. The real treat was when the fork hit my tongue, and I was mind blown. Every detail is meticulously fussed over. Each layer of flavor builds on the next. Each ingredient enhances the one before. This place takes art and places it delicately on a plate. If you don't visit ELDR when you are in Asheville, you will be missing what makes dining out the religious experience I feel it should always be."
"We came down to for a very special 12th anniversary dinner. I ended up leaving very disappointed, and really down for the rest of our date night. I ordered a pasta dish that was described w charred carrots, mascarpone, and pine nuts. At first, the flavors came together, and it seemed very delicious, but as I continued my pasta dish, it became overwhelmingly heavy with a salty w a brine type zing. It almost reminded me of the flavor of corn beef sandwich. None of that was mentioned in the menus description. Unfortunately, the pasta was underdone and the chewiness didn’t let up, so that remained throughout..So much so that it’s stuck to my teeth every bite. Our server was attentive. I was surprised of no mention of our anniversary. And yes, the first time he asked how I liked my meal, I said fine because I have just begun. I wasn’t yet overwhelmed with it. I was actually still puzzling over the dish flavors at the time. At the end of the dinner, I did give them my final opinion that it was too zingy, salty and chewy. He thanked me for my Feedback. The atmosphere is adorable! Very inviting w it’s warm yet modern vibes. Kind of a cross between modern, a Nordic lodge and a hobbit home. Enchanting. Overall, I may try them again for breakfast sometime, but having paid $28 for a small serving of pasta that was undercooked (easy thing to avoid and unacceptable for a pasta dish) and not as described in the menu flavor / ingredient description, I probably won’t be running back anytime soon with our myriad of other options in Asheville."
"Yum! Pricey but yummy, and the service was fantastic. Good selection of wines too. I recommend parking at the restaurant and walking up to the hotel before dinner to grab a drink and watch the sunset. Then head back down for a cozy dinner experience."
"We had such a great dinner at ELDR to celebrate my birthday. The area around the Grovewood Village is so beautiful and ELDR has such an updated, but historical feel. The restaurant was small, but felt so bright and open. Service was wonderful and attentive. Our food was fantastic and fresh. We could tell that the chef put a lot of heart into the food. We had a wonderful experience!"
