"One of the best meals dinners we've ever had. Amazing food and service. Hope to come back again if we can get another resy!"
"Food was absolutely delicious! We had the oysters, oyster mushrooms, and duck adobe. The sauces are incredible. Loved sitting at the bar and getting to watch them work their magic in the kitchen. Hopefully will be back in the future!"
"Finally got reservations to try Neng Jr's. It was worth the wait. Everything was great. From the food, the staff, the chef, the drinks to the atmosphere, I highly recommend getting on the waitlist to come experience this culinary journey. They take the time to describe each menu item (there are not descriptions in the menu) and are more than willing to help you with your selection. The place is small so not many seats. We sat at the bar which was perfect because we were able to watch all the action in the kitchen. Silver is amazing. Such an enjoyable evening and we will be back!"
"An unassuming space is met with superb cuisine and friendly service. As someone who previously worked at a prestigious restaurant and considers herself to be a mildly experienced home cook, I had to experience for myself what this restaurant, named one of “The 50 Restaurants in the U.S. We are Most Excited About Right Now” by the New York Times and a James Beard Finalist had to offer. Neng Jr.’s has set the mark incredibly high for Asheville restaurants. You can observe the owner, Silver, smiling and cooking up delectable dishes on any given night while their husband greets you with a warm personality and recites the menu from memory without skipping a beat, not forgetting one ingredient that is in each dish. The duo was kind enough to squeeze me into a bar seat on a busy Friday night, where I enjoyed the striped bass nestled on a bed of green cooked in coconut sauce and a side of crisp fruit with an accompanying sauce that can’t be explained, it must be experienced. For those who have reviewed this space negatively based on the sheer size or food quality, I must assume that you don’t have the taste for a 5 star dining experience that exceeds expectations. If you’ve browsed their website prior to dining here, as most food connoisseurs do, you can’t help but read that the space is intimate (it only seats 18) and offers competitive reservations. I appreciate the fact that this restaurant is intimate, the service perfectly melds causal with professionalism, and the food is stellar. It is very affordable with generous portions, especially considering the quality. For those who sincerely appreciate a dining experience that is modest in appearance yet excellent in its taste, as I do, you must try Neng Jr.’s."
"the duck was KILLER--- I wanted to drink every drop of the abodo sauce. The tuna tartare was also quite good, but had nothing breaking the box in terms of flavors, and the lumpia were made well but again nothing out of the ordinary The big plate Mushrooms were okay- reminded me of a ragu. I think it needed more spices. I did very much enjoy the heirloom tomatoes and tonnato. What really impressed me here was the flavors of the sauces, and that each were prepared to order and not taken from bases/stocks. Additionally, the prowess and knowledge of the staff was incredible. They knew every component of each dish. The kitchen was also perfectly clean, fun to watch, and functioned so well! Cherry is doing a great thing here and I hope pushes the mold a bit more to create new, exciting dishes. Asheville needs some great Asian resturants."
