Reviews of Sage - Elevated Dining
"Gourmet food in surprisingly large portions prepared by owner chef Steven. Everything was truly delicious. We had the salmon BLT and flank steak. From photos I was concerned it might be too formal for our purpose. But the atmosphere felt intimate with a small bar. It was thoughtfully curated by the owner also artist who painted the art on the walls. Patio area is beautiful and would have been lovely to use if there had been heat lamps. If you are traveling from TN to the Smoky Mountains as we were it is worth a stop."
"Wow what an amazing experience! The food, atmosphere and service were spot on. My wife got the trout- amazing, light with perfect smoky flavor. I got the surf and turf special with the flank steak. Absolutely delicious. The appetizers and desserts were also unique and flavorful. We live in Atlanta and will come back to Andrews just for this incredible experience."
"This new restaurant in Andrews, NC is going to do well. The service was incredible, the food was incredible. If you have the opportunity to order the scallop atop hot water cornbread, you have to try it. I'd never heard of making cornbread this way, but evidentially it traces back to the Native Americans. It was amazing! The trout was cooked a way i'd never tried it, very crispy and delicious! We finished off the meal with a deconstructed Crème brûlée. The atmosphere is beautiful in a historic building right on main street. They offer outdoor dining as well! My only complaint is that I wish they were located in Blairsville. Maybe I can encourage a second location :)"
"We spent a weekend in Andrews. Driving through the sleepy little town, I was looking for something to eat. My partner was very interested in the Friday night food truck event, but while looking for parking I spied “Sage”. The place looked quiet for a Friday which would normally deter me, but with the food truck rally out back, I guessed maybe parking was an issue? Well, I wanted something good, not greasy food truck junk, so I asked the hostess if we were okay to sit outside. We had been out on the boat all day, enjoying the sun and the water, so we were not dressed for fine dining. They not only said, “yes” but they told us to please come inside! We were blown away by that hospitality as we were in flip flops, shorts, tank tops! We decided to stay on the deck as the sun was setting and we enjoy that time of day so much. Our hostess brought water and thanked us for stopping by. She was very friendly, personable and had a very fun edgy style. Our server, Robert, was certainly the best service we have had in a long time. Handsome, knowledgeable and skilled, Robert really guided us through the entire experience. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and corn soup. Both were so flavorful and fresh! We also got the burrata dish. House made burrata. So delicious. We went on to order the salad with raspberries and the Veggie Dinner plate. The veggie plate is a combination of sides. Our favorite part was the smoked tomato grits. Absolutely delicious. Then we had coffee and port. I had to get dessert: bread pudding with peaches and a bourbon cream sauce. Oh baby. Talk about amazing. This is not your average mountain town restaurant. This is a hidden gem, diamond in the rough, top secret speak easy of flavor. Run… don’t walk. Support this chef and his vision. They give a classy atmosphere without a pretentious attitude. Just what Andrews needed. Thank you, Sage. An oasis in Andrews. Best meal I had all week. We will be back!"
"Having dinned at the establishment that previously occupied this space, I was astonished to find that the new Restaurant of Sage bears no resemblance to its predecessor - and that's a grand compliment. The meticulous interior design and the transformation of the courtyard are nothing short of outstanding, adding a touch of sophistication to Main Street in Andrews. As you step inside, you're greeted with an ambiance that exudes brightness, class, and an impeccable sense of style. What truly set our experience apart was the staff. They were among the most professional and attentive I've had the pleasure of interacting with. And the food? Simply put, it's a revelation. Immense appreciation goes out to Chef and owner Steven Lash for curating such a gastronomic marvel. Coming in famished, we embarked on a three-course culinary journey that began with the Sweet Corn Soup and the Roasted Pork Belly with Plum Glaze. The soup offered a velvety, delectable comfort, while the pork belly was sheer melt-in-your-mouth goodness. We opted for the New York Strip and the Pork Tenderloin for our mains. The pork, cooked to sheer perfection, featured a crust seasoning that left us craving more. Paired with okra, corn, tomatoes, and a delightful mustard cream, every bite was an exhilarating fusion of textures and flavors. The New York Strip was equally impressive, with its rosemary demi-glace and truffle fingerling potatoes. In an era where truffle is often either overdone or underwhelming, this dish struck the perfect balance, making each potato a worthy accompaniment to the steak. We ended our meal with two delicious desserts - the Chocolate Hazelnut Tube and Peach Bread Pudding, complemented by a rich French pressed coffee. To say the experience was memorable would be an understatement. Sage has not only earned our commendation but our recurring patronage. I'm already eager to sample the rest of the menu. A big thank you to the Sage team for taking Andrews' dining experience to new heights! We'll surely be back!"
