"Took my car to Advanced Auto, 801 Fairview Rd, Asheville, NC to purchase a new battery ($250) for a 2019 VW. I was told by the AA employee that it could be the alternator instead of the battery and he suggested going next door to Meineke for an evaluation. Red Flag. For $461 Meineke determined that the alternator was fine and only the battery needed to be replaced. I was charged $89 to remove and replace a battery, plus another $159 for labor on top of a $69 diagnostic test for a $223 battery. Also they charge 3% to pay with a credit card and did not tell me. I almost feel like this was a scheme between these two companies. Non-the-less it was a major rip off."
