"Sigh, I really wanted to love this doctor because I haven’t had a consistent primary care physician in almost a decade. But today’s appointment was really disappointing. I had gotten blood work done at my OBGYNs office and decided to come to Dr. Chu to evaluate the blood results. I wanted to make her my new PCP, someone I would be consistent with. But immediately she seemed closed off because I had gotten my bloodwork done at another office. Almost like there wasn’t much to follow up on. She simply reviewed the blood test and said “everything looks fine.” I had other concerns that I wanted to discuss with her, but I was caught off guard by the quick review of the bloodwork. Then she switched over to questions around wellness and asked me if I feel safe at home and if I have a support system. It was off-putting because these are questions that I would answer once we’ve built rapport. But I didn't sense any energy or intention from Dr. Chu to build that rapport. Luckily I’m very safe and loved and don’t have those issues but I can only imagine that someone who does have such issues would find it difficult to open up to a physician that comes across as cold or hasn’t built trust or communication with the patient yet. Eventually, I simply asked the questions that I had without much prompting from the Dr. but this appointment really didn't go the way I expected."
