Reviews of Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services
"The most disorganized, frustrating organization to work with. You can never speak to anyone except the answering service, and your messages often don't go through, or if they do, they are garbled. It's like speaking into a void. They don't seem to care if your child runs out of medication because of THEIR mistakes even when it is very dangerous to go off of them suddenly. The office manager that I have dealt with many times is nasty and dismissive although I must say, besides him, everyone is nice enough and our nurse practitioner is great. It's just the systems they have in place are appallingly bad. My child has often had to suffer dangerous gaps in medication because of their mistakes. I am now going to actively look for another provider. I can't do this anymore, even though I am sad to have to leave our NP."
"If you suffer from mental illness and need true care and assistance with any kind of paperwork for short or long term disability, social security, et cetera please spare yourself the stress and heartache and please find anywhere else to go but here. I will share my story at a later date."
"This place only gives 30 minutes not 45 minutes and they are very irresponsible when giving medication and don't explain the correct information when doing an intake. This is not conducive to anyone's mental wellness. They also have attitudes and abruptly cut off sessions."
"Yea gave me a nurse practitioner who will not give me the meds I need and I'll istead of anxiety meds she subscribes medicines that are for muscle spasm and seizures and you have to wait for them to work after weeks of use!"
"I have been a patient for over two years, and three months ago I requested a new therapist after the many inappropriate and uncomfortable comments my therapist constantly made reached a tipping point. There is another review calling her unprofessional, and I couldn’t agree more. During our last telehealth appointment she was washing her dishes loudly during our session. I would never take a work call while doing dishes! That’s only the tip of the iceberg of how she treated me. After three months with no update about my new therapist, I asked a supervisor to call me. Today a supervisor informed me they cannot even estimate how much longer I will be on a waiting list. She told me the only care they could offer me is to increase the frequency of my 10 minute long psychiatric appointments from every 3 months to once a month. I was told if I have any mental health needs to just go to the hospital. I was told I could “check in” with my psychiatrist if needed- but when I asked to be put in touch they told me the only way to talk to him is to set an appointment and he’s on vacation with no available appointments. All this is to say: the Jewish board of bay ridge doesn’t care about their patients. I have been without care for three months and will be without care with no end in sight. They let their patients fall through the cracks then blame it on staffing during the pandemic. But even before the pandemic they had ridiculously long waiting lists- it took me almost two months to get my first appointment back in pre-pandemic 2019/2020. This is why so many people lose their lives to mental Illness- when they try to get help they are told there’s no help available and to just check themselves into a hospital. Telling people to check themselves into a psych ward is not mental health care. If you need help, seek it anywhere but here. They don’t care if you live or die."
