Reviews of Dr. Farheen Fahim
"Dr. Fahim was my first psychiatrist. And wow, what an awful way to be introduced to the world of psychiatry as someone who had never had a psychiatrist before. She'd show up an hour to an hour and a half late, and the appointments would run for as little or as long as she wanted them to. There was no organization or structure. I'd have to take calls while I was already working or out because of the no show fees she'd drop on me if I didn't take the call. I looked incredibly unprofessional at work/in public settings because I had to work around her inability to come on time. She prescribed me a medication that made my mental health episodes worse, whether it was manic or depressive. I had the worst intrusive thoughts of my life, and I couldn't tell her that because then she'd start pushing onto me that I was schizophrenic (I'm not). She also tends to blame mistakes her receptionists make onto her clients/patients. My final straw was when she inserted her personal opinion onto my relationship. I was lightly explaining to her the little rough patch we were going through at the time, and she immediately responded by saying "well that mean he doesn't care about you, or your relationship". I called two days later to terminate with her, and she never called back. I haven't seen her in over a year. My current psychiatrist has done more for me in a little over a year, than Farheen Fahim had done for me within the two years I had to put up with her inability to function as a proper and professional psychiatrist."
"Wonderful! I can finally function normally because of her"
"My family unfortunately had nicknamed her “Dr. Extortion.” At the start of our working relationship, she charged myself, my husband and my son as three separate patients on two occasions in order to diagnose my already-diagnosed son w/ ADHD for medication management. $1K out of pocket later, we received our first prescription. She insisted on monthly appointments for medication management long after my son’s meds were normalized. She charged $110 per 5 minute appointment each month, during which time we were barraged with questions and I was issued unsolicited parenting advice. Bedside manner, being terrible, was actually the least of my issues with this practice. She was usually upwards of an hour late. One time we could not wait the hour b/c of a school commitment. We waited until 20 minutes after the appointment time. We were then charged a $50 no show fee. The office is never actually present. You’ll always need to leave a VM and wait for a callback. Finally, I called my son’s PCP, who informed us that two appointments per year were all that was required for medication management. It was two weeks of cajoling and demanding copies of the records to be transferred, after which time, we finally moved on. Mental health professionals are difficult to come by these days and I understand that pain. All in all, we were grateful to be able to get a solution for my son, but it was a painful path every step of the way."
"Do not see her. She pressured me into taking an expensive medication I did not need or want that ruined my mental health for roughly half a year. If you can, find someone else"
"I waited two weeks to be seen. I got a call from Amara who said my insurance required a deductible and that I had to contact my insurance. I was on vacation and thought I could take care of it when I got back. I got back on a Sunday. My appointment was for a Monday. I called Monday (hours before my appointment) and informed Amara that I contacted my insurance and there was no deductible needed for my plan. She then proceeded to tell me that my appointment today was canceled because she didn’t hear back from me about the deductible and that they thought I wasn’t going to pay for the appointment. I got no phone call or anything. Absolutely bizarre that they just cancel appointments. I got no 48 or 24 hour notice. Seems like they only care about the money. Based on other reviews, this must be true. Awful service!!"
