"I started seeing Dr Castellano after my Doctor retired at SMG, which i have been associated with (see many doctors at SMG) for 25+ years. My compliant relates to his unwillingness to refill prescriptions that I have been taking for 20 years and need for the rest of my life. Even if Dr. Castellano wants to see my every six months when my previous doctor and specialist only required blood tests once a year for hypothyroidism where my medication has remained unchanged for 15 years and which I need to function properly, he can at least state this in the patient portal like every other doctor when visits are required. So, when I said I would prefer to go back to the endocrinologist at SMG, the specialist for this condition, he would not write a 2 week prescription to see another doctor at the same practice. So, I choose to walk around like a zombie rather than going back to his extortionist like practices in a poorly run part of SMG. I really dislike how this office is run and will seek my healthcare needs elsewhere. I have enough anxiety and pressure in my life before dealing with his inflexible policies in an environment with limited appointments, long wait times and no regard for a patients history and demonstrated continued bloodwork on file for over 15 years. I don’t think an extra 2 weeks on the same dose will be a problem. But, no dose is a problem, but you only care about billing."
"Dr. Castellano and nurse Kelly were very attentive and thorough. Amazing bedside manner. Thank you."
"Dr. Castellano is an awesome doctor. He takes his time and answers all questions. You leave the visit knowing your health concerns were addressed and treated. I give him 5 stars and also his MA Kelly and the nurses that I've dealt with as well. Navigating Summit Health is another story. The fact that it's so big, it's very difficult to call and get to a person in the office because you have to call a central number. Now I have it figured out, so it's less of a hassle. Just keep that in mind when going from a small office to a huge medical corporation. I love the convenience of making appointments online and my husband and I both are happy with the care we have received."
"Dr Castellano is attentive and knowledgeable. I was shocked to see 1star reviews and so I read them. They are complaints about the summit medical office staff. That has nothing to do with the care given by the doctor. Also, my experience with the office staff has been pleasant."
"Along the lines of previous reviewers, would not recommend both Charles Castellano and SMG for 1) unnecessary and wasteful services, 2) inadequate and incomplete care, and 3) a demonstration of negligence on behalf of Charles Castellano. 1st, there was no medical need for my visit – I made the appointment only because I ran out of an Rx and the SMG office refused to renew the Rx over the phone with my pharmacy. SMG has a policy of not providing refills for chronic medicine beyond 6 months, and even the doc conceded that refilling my specific medicine should not require a 6-month check-in. Additionally, I was billed for separate services that were not provided. 2nd, Charles Castellano promised to write an Rx for 12 month, but instead submitted a digital Rx for 6 months only. He also refused to refill another Rx for a separate less-urgent condition and suggested I visit the doctor who prescribed that med instead. 3rd, Charles Castellano was negligent for not paying attention which bloodwork tests he should be ordering for me. He ended up placing a digital order for tests that he agreed to exclude earlier during the appointment. While at Labcorp, I was unable to remove the additional unnecessary and costly tests without Charles Castellano’s review. The doctor messed up twice correcting the order, since he was unable to correctly identify which tests correspond to a particular condition. Overall, what turned out to be a less than 10 minute $300 ‘service’ visit, I had to 1) take a half-day off from work, 2) spend 1 hour each way driving to office, expenses paid, 3) not receive proper medical care for any of my 3 requests while I was there, 4) spend another half-day stressfully nannying the bloodwork order due to Charles Castellano’s negligence, and 5) dealing with my insurance and SMG billing detailing why I should not be charged for this gross incompetence. Avoid avoid avoid."
