Reviews of 1808 Trailhead
"Trail head as soon as you enter park on the right is the orange sand and water trail leads to 1808 trail"
"This isn’t really the 1808 Trailhead even with a sign that says 1808 Trail. It’s the start of the Sand and Water Trail which is .87 miles long and ends at the intersection of the 1808 Trail and Batona Trail. The Sand and Water Trail is a wonderful trail to hike with lots of small wooden bridges to cross streams and wet areas. The 1808 Trail starts near the end of the Sand and Water trail. Turn right and it goes 1.6 miles to the Buttonwood Hill Campsite which is off Batsto Bridgeport Road/Rt 542 and across from Crowley Landing for a total of about 2.5 miles. From here you have a few options. You could walk back on the road, backtrack or take Batona Trail where it intersects with the 1808 trail to the Batsto Blue Trail/White trails. I’ve hiked on other trails from Batsto Village and enjoyed each of them. Having seen 1808 Trail on Google Maps and reading the one review about it, got us to take a walk/run there. The 1808/Sand and Water Trails was beyond our hopes. It’s beautiful with diverse forage and lots of footbridges. We ended up going 8 miles by starting on the Sand and Water Trail to the 1808 Trail to Buttonwood Hill Campsite which has the Buttonwood Connector Trail (1.2 miles) to the Batona Trail which goes back to Batsto Village. We parked in the Batsto Village Parking lot. There are porta potties in the parking lot while the real bathrooms are being renovated. You can pick up a map of the hiking trails there. I recommend you have a map with you. Most of these trials are not on Google Maps."
"Beautiful out and back trail, or add the Batona Trail for a 7-mile loop"
