Reviews of Sensory Play
"Shuli is a highly skilled occupational therapist who uses a wholistic and personalized approach that has worked wonders for our son since he started pre-K at 4 years old. Within the first three months at Sensory Play, he made progress in expanding his sensory tolerance, building his strength, and increasing his focus. When he first started, he was cautious about slides, swings, ladders, and certain textures. Now he enjoys slides and climbing. And he is more open to trying new things each session. It's an experience he's excited about and enjoys. The environment at Sensory Play is calm and clean. Shuli is a pleasure to work with--kind, patient, and flexible. The advice she gives and suggested resources to help beyond the sessions are so valuable. I would recommend Sensory Play without hesitation."
"My child loves getting therapy both in-person at Sensory Play's OT gym as well as online with Neuronet app and other methods. He has made great progress with handwriting, self-regulation and attending among other goals. The team at Sensory Play is excellent. My only regret is that I did not start sooner. He has been getting help from the highly skilled and caring staff for a year now. He is now 8 years old and quickly learned how to tie his shoe laces last year from Shuli. He was afraid to play on the swings prior to Therapy. Now he enjoys play on the swings at the playground. He also learned to ride his bicycle without training wheels since receiving OT at this facility. I am amazed and pleased with the growth that my child is showing. Thank God for Sensory play!"
"When we first arrived to Sensory Play my 2.5 year old would barely eat anything. Now she eats tons and her weight has increased. I am so thankful to Shuli for all that she has done for my daughter, she has techniques and strategies I would have never thought of and wasn't getting from any research I was doing online. She really looks at the child and sees what is going on and has a way of getting the child excited about food again and eating. Going from having a child that was dehydrated and extremely picky to now excited about food again has done wonders in our household. It was also a huge plus that Sensory Play was able to get my insurance to cover all of this! Highly recommend!"
"As a NYC teacher for almost 20 years I have really high expectations for my son's development and the quality of therapy he receives. Shuli started working with my son when he was 2 years old and he’s come a long way since he started going to the sensory play gym. Shuli has created a warm, nurturing, playful environment. His gross motor skills, coordination, ability to deal with different textures, and sensory processing has improved a great deal since he started working with Shuli. Shuli has worked with my family and my son's other therapist on ways to ease his sensory challenges and cooperative play in both preferred and non-preferred activities, which was difficult for him to handle when he first started at the sensory play gym. Shuli has gone above and beyond to meet my son’s individual needs and tailor her sessions at the sensory play gym to keep him engaged so he is having fun and thriving at each session, despite how much he is being challenged. Shuli introduced us to the Integrated Listening System which my son now not only uses during his sessions with Shuli, but also at home. Overall, I would highly recommend the Sensory play gym to any parent who is looking for a safe and supportive environment where their child can thrive."
"It was quite unfortunate my daughter fractured her arm during her session with Shuli in October 2019. It still bothers me that once I heard my daughter crying, Shuli stated "she is only crying because the mother is here" this to her other associate and another child in OT. At this point we had been in session for almost a year, never late, never not paid. Shuli would later on apologize but no big gesture on her part. She paid my co-pays and the needed brace ($250 max). Personally I think she was more worried about being sued, which I didn't. She has a lot of clients, too many back to back with no rest period between clients. Something to think about and ask before you move forward. We went to Kouli's OT Sensory Gym to further follow-up. A calmer more controlled environment."
