"This is my experience at Joseph Tax and Consulting Services. I went to Joseph Tax for the second year in a row to get my 2021 taxes filed on April 11, 2022. On June 1, 2022, I still hadn't received my 2021 NYS tax return. I called the Jospeh Tax office on the morning of June 1, 2022 to confirm that my return had been filed successfully, only to be dismissed and informed by Dr. Joseph that she would call me back. After not receiving a returned call, I decided to check the IRS e-filing tool, which showed no record that my 2021 tax return had ever been filed and informed me that my return was past due. I called the office back, only to be informed by Dr. Joseph that the return was "on hold" for some reason and her office "had missed" filing it. This is only my second year filing my own taxes (I'm two years out of undergrad) and I was understandably very concerned that my tax return was being filed in June, nearly two months after the deadline. I asked Dr. Joseph for a letter stating that her office was the reason my 2021 Tax Return was not filed on time, for my own records and in case the IRS wanted further information about my late return. She wanted to know "what I would get from that" and refused, repeatedly telling me the return "wasn't late" because refunds can never be late. While I was owed a refund from the NYS government, I actually owed money to the federal government, which I mailed in a money order in April 2022, thinking that my return had been filed. Luckily, I have a dated copy of the Money Order addressed to the United States Treasury, my dated and signed copy of my draft 2021 tax return, my American Express payment record to Joseph Tax and Consulting Services, and a letter from the government confirming receipt of my payment, all dated for April 2022 as evidence. I didn't request a refund of the filing fee Joseph Tax charges or any compensation from Dr. Joseph. I only requested the letter which would explain the situation and her office's responsibility in my late filing. I was told that the office was only responsible for "damages" and would not provide a letter and could only compensate for any late fees incurred. When I said I would post a review explaining the situation online to test in the court of public opinion whether her office was at fault, Dr. Joseph informed me that she would "sue me" if I did so and to "try it" and hear from her "attorney." I'm not sure on what grounds Dr. Joseph would take legal action, as everything I'm describing actually occurred according to her office's records. I'm also not sure why Dr. Joseph would threaten to sue a 23 year old girl, but I welcome any further discussion, as the matter still hasn't been resolved. In the future, I would hope Joseph Tax and Consulting treats other customers less dissimively, and actually renders the services they are charging customers for."
