Reviews of Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park Trail, South Bound Brook, NJ
"A trail great for peace of mind of walking, jogging or bike riding that can last as long as you want. Scenery and sound of nature provides it all."
"A peaceful walking trail between the canal and Raritan River. I like to listen to the occasional freight trains, and have even seen an Eagle."
"Easy flat walk along canal and river. Scenery the same didn't vary. Shared with bicycles so need to be alert. Could have used a couple benches saw only 1. Lots of poison ivy."
"Thank goodness this trail is preserved and taken care of. Bc when it rains, trees are downed on the path, water flooding from canal to river, and other bad natural weather disasters. It is a beautiful trail that spans for miles. Great for a day walk from a lock to a lock (water locks that control the flow of water), beautiful wild life and great environment and atmosphere on a sunny day. Walking, biking, and horseback riding is acceptable. Its a carry in and carry out trash. Fishing allowed as well but not recommended to eat from canal due to chemicals they pour into it every year to treat the water."
"Nice walking area. Can see remnants of old canal systems that were used to move goods around by mule drawn barges in the canals. Canals connected to major waterways, and allowed for extended usage of major waterways transportation systems. Definitely an example of a bygone age of transportation before more modern ways of conveyance."
