Reviews
"My son Nico gave the best review after his first couple of months with Henry. After joining Henry's class, around the same time he had also started pre-school at Montessori, and someone eventually asked him who his favorite teacher was. Instead of naming one of the teachers at his extremely expensive pre-school, without hesitation he said, "HENRY!" which pretty much says it all. Henry is just the best, period. He possesses all the qualities of a great teacher - patience, passion, fun, he commands respect and focus without being intimidating, and he prioritizes safety. If you're expecting your kid to just learn tricks and power moves in a month, this is not the place for you. The same way a kid in martial arts shouldn't be trying to break boards right away, the same goes for a kid learning how to b-boy, it makes no sense for them to be trying power moves with no foundation. Like any good school, Henry starts from the ground up, by emphasizing fitness, balance, body control, technique, and safety and also by taking a step back and teaching the kids about hip hop culture as a whole. In this year of celebrating hip hop's 50th, the rappers and DJs have gotten the majority of the recognition but b-boys and graffiti artists are equally important elements of the culture. Thanks in part to Henry, my 5-year-old understands that while many so-called hip hop fans don't. Anyway I appreciate how some of the best classes didn't involve dancing at all, like one that taught about what "the break" actually is, or others that to bystanders probably looked more like a gymnastics class. That's what makes Henry's class so great, it's so much more than a dance class - it's also a fitness bootcamp and a music, culture, and gymnastics class rolled into one. My son's been with Henry for over a year now and has moved on to Kindergarten and a new set of teachers, but if you ask him who his favorite is, it's still "HENRY!""
"My son started with Henry in the summer and it has helped his confidence, discipline, skill and strength. He teaches fundamental concepts in ways the kids will understand and have fun with and be proud of.. so glad we found him! A true asset to the community!"
"My two boys happy to take classes here. It's a good activity for growing kids- to train body, brain and friendship. Yep, it's team activity and communication skills improving too. The teacher, Henry, is the best. Not for dances only. He is responsive for any situation, supports and quick answer for any questions and ready to help."
"Henry is the best breakdance teacher you could ever wish you had for your kid! He is very knowledgeable in his kraft, kind and patient. I am very grateful that my son is taking classes with him. Lucas is quite the breaker now!"
"Rival is a holistic instructor. He is patient, thorough with instructions, and has high expectations for all of his students. I have seen students transform from shy beginners to self-assured, ready to go, highly proficient novices. Rival teaches the dance, but he also teaches students how to navigate the world with awareness and confidence. If you donβt believe that one can learn all of this from breaking, I would say try taking his classes!"
