"When I walked in, Hossein was delivering a repaired sewing machine to a young lady who was clearly a longtime customer. I immediately noticed his personable and sweet demeanor. I loved the cluttered, old-school vibe - I'll take that any day over the far too glossy trim shops in what is left of the garment district. I was entranced by the grab bag buttons, but I didn't want to dump out too many on the counter, so settled for a few gems. Old buttons can be exquisite little works of art and that is my intention for these since I suck at sewing - using them in jewelry and collages."
"eclectic collection of buttons, lace, ribbon, and other embellishments that are perfect for upcycling projects. charming, longstanding neighborhood staple with a calming ambience, run by Hossein!"
"Awesome store, awesome owner. Owner found the zipper slider needed to fix my jacket. Installed slider and secured for future wearing. Fast results and at reasonable price, MY ENTERNAL THANKS."
"I can’t recommend Gizmo enough. I have brought several sewing machines here over the years and he always treats them with the utmost care. A true NYC gem that must be protected at all costs!"
"i love Gizmo! sewing machine repair shop! service your machine so it doesnt break! this 20 yr old singer machine fell apart during the pandemic. I was working on corsets and masks and the side handle just broke off - i was so wonderfully happy that Gizmo had survived the pandemic and was more than happy to give him my business! i paid $100 to fix the wheel - and service the machine. it works beautifully now! so happy! i considered just getting a new machine - but they dont make them to last anymore. this is a rare singer made in Italy! (bought at woolworth on 23rd st for $100 in 1996). THANK YOU SO MUCH GIZMO FOR SALVAGING MY MACHINE! IT WORKS WONDERFULLY!"
