H&R Block

"AVOID AVOID AVOID! For the past two years, I've had an awful experience at h&r block. This year, I even went to a different location in Astoria, because I thought maybe the awfulness was specific to the 30th ave location - BUT I WAS WRONG! They were still awful. A few days ago, I called this office asking for an appointment. The man I spoke with was helpful and kind. He called me back a couple hours later and said they can squeeze me in for an appointment today, Saturday, at noon. He also said if I could upload my documents before the appointment, it would speed the appointment along. I happily did so. This morning, it was raining, so I took an Uber to the h&r block, only to get there and be told that they are too busy to see me at all. "Can you just upload your documents online?" Shouldn't they have called me this morning to say that they could not keep my appointment? Or shouldn't they have just told me in the first place that I could just upload my documents and that an appointment was unnecessary? I've now wasted half of my Saturday for an appointment that they couldn't keep, I'm out of the money I spent on the uber, and I'm no closer to getting my taxes done. Like I said - AVOID AVOID AVOID!"

"I did my taxes today and my rate was very high. I was not even asked if I wanted the “peace of mind” extra $40, it was simply added. I had only guessed this happened and upon requesting it be taken off they did. I asked many times why was my rate high and got several different reasons but not an itemized receipt, which the company has provided many times in different locations. My return was very low and basically I ended up wasting money. Long time H&R customer, never returning to this location. Very bad communication and customer service. They just want your money. Keep away."
