Reviews
"Membership terms were overly complicated and overcharged. When they downgraded the gym from an elite location to a regular location, they continued to charge me the elite price for months and did not reimburse me. They've also been forcing everyone to go through their new in-house app and it's impossible to navigate. For a gym this crowded, it's not worth the hassle."
"Membership renewal scam. I was in town for one week and the person at the desk agreed it would be more cost effective for me to sign up for a monthly membership and cancel due to the relative cost of a day pass. However, they never mentioned that my membership would renew on the 1st of the month as opposed to 1 month after my sign up day, and also that I needed to give 5 business days notice to avoid being charged for the next cycle. This is going to result in my being charged $94 for next billing cycle even though I don't even live in New York. Also, there is no clear way to cancel online, so I've been on hold with the location for about 20 minutes trying to move my cancellation forward. Based on Reddit posts and reviews it seems like this kind of thing is typical and built into NYSC's business model. I would absolutely not recommend this gym."
"Terrible gym. The front desk refused to give me a second, clean towel for a shower. I had to shower using my sweaty towel. They spent a ton of money and time renovating the Park Ave location but there is limited space for open mat workouts and they frequently run out of towels. Such a disappointment."
"This is a very basic gym. Full disclosure, I've never been up to the weightlifting room, I only come to use the treadmill. There are a lot of treadmills but none of the TVs connected to them turn on. Many are missing a cup holder for your water bottle, there's just a hole where the cup holder should be. The treadmill area does get crowded in the evening time after work, I've had to wait to get on a machine. If you can come earlier you should. It does tend to get hot in the treadmill area, I wish they would install fans to keep the temp a bit lower. The worst part about this gym is the weekend hours, they close at 5.00PM on Saturday and Sunday which is a huge bummer. The front desk staff is consistently cool and friendly. I will continue to come, just want all to know not to expect anything special."
"Cool gym with a friendly staff, the equipment is way newer comparing to other locations, great variety of classes. One star down for the cleanliness - the weights are everywhere and people barely clean machines after themselves. Also I wish they had some fans or air purifiers, the gym gets really smelly and hot (especially after 5 pm)"
