Reviews of Tribeca Soho Animal Hospital
"I had high hopes for this place initially, but was faced with the harsh reality of the profit seeking behaviors. My dog is perfect for that purpose as she has a chronic skin condition. The prices seemed okay when I first called, but for some reason, during the actual visits, the totals came out to more than we were initially told. We did the monthly cytopoint shots which were more expensive than what they told us when we transferred from our previous vet. Given that we were willing to do everything to make our dog feel better, we never argued with anything. However, a month ago, my dog had a skin infection that required treatment with an antibiotic, antifungal and an immunomodulator. During that visit, we were also pressed to get additional tests, such as heart worm, although she did not need it at the time, it was not the purpose of that visit, and not a priority at that time. Moreover, we were given the heart worm prophylaxis meds which I said I didn't want at the time, because she was prescribed with so many things already. However, that was added on anyway, further racking up our bill to 1000 dollars for that visit. My last straw was the vet's unwillingness to fill a prescription for apoquel, a medication my dog needs on a monthly basis to relieve the itching. This medication was prescribed by their vet a month ago with all the other ones, but now they are refusing to fill the prescription on the grounds of wanting to see my dog first (which is another 120 dollars per visit, of course). She has a known condition for which she has been treated at their clinic for over a year now, plus our dog has been doing much better on the meds, which should be a good indicator of her being "adequately dosed". All in all, everything may seem like sunshine and rainbows when you visit this office, but their main inclination is unfortunately profit, and not helping your pet. The exaggerated facade of friendliness hides a predatory practice, which is unfortunately a common thing these days. EDIT: To comment on your response, I was surprised that a CBC was not done for Phoebe, given that blood was drawn for chemistries AND a heartworm test, which we were reserved about. Liver chemistries were done for the use of ketoconazole, but no white count for apoquel, with a heartworm test ordered instead. Moreover, Dr. Lee came back with the results of normal blood tests and a negative heartworm test, but proceeded to prescribe heartworm meds despite me clearly telling her that we didn't want the meds at that time and that we will not give to her since she was already on an antifungal, antibiotic, immunomodulator and a dose of bravecto. Also, she did mention apoquel as "a very safe medication that we might have to use long term", so I don't see the reason why a CBC was not done. As for follow ups, Dr. Lee said that if she's doing "fantastic", she wouldn't need to be seen for a follow up. Phoebe was doing great after the secondary infection was treated, and returned to her baseline of getting itchy due to allergy reasons. She has a chronic condition, as you know, and was getting cytopoint shots for it with minimal relief, which in my opinion should have raised the question if she is being undertreated/has secondary skin infection, which was clearly the case. We consulted your practice for concerns of a skin infection on more than one occasion, and cytologies have been done in the past, with the vet telling us there is "some yeast, but not that much", and we were told to treat her with shampoos. We would bathe her 2x a week, as told, with no relief, leading me to believe that my dog has been undertreated by your staff, and only treating her aggressively when her fur started falling out in chunks. For the diet situation, I understand your desire to sell the products stocked up in the waiting area, however, we feed Phoebe a grain-free diet that we prepare at home with recommendations given by a dog nutritionist. We like to know what exactly goes into her food and that the food she gets is human grade. Phoebe is doing great now."
"Spacious, clean snd modern facilities with kind and caring vets. Dr Lee will absolutely treat your pet like her own. Also part of a great animal hospital network in the lower Manhattan area in case you need a backup when they’re closed or fully booked."
"My dog was made to feel comfortable during his exam, he wasn’t afraid. I trust he will be given the best care at Tribeca Soho Animal Hospital."
"My first experience with Tribeca SoHo AH was yesterday and it was ahhhh-some. My usual vet was not available and my dog child, Ramen, needed her vaccinations updated asap. They took us in right away and were so kind. Ramen was unusually anxious, yet the staff was able to make her comfortable and were able to do her wellness check and vaccinations pretty quickly. They are some of our fur-avorite people now. :)"
