"Sixth president of College of New Jersey. Raised funds to set the school on the right path and create syllabus structure and entrance criteria. When he ran the college, its primary purpose was to train ministers. Witherspoon supported the American Revolution. He was elected into the Continental Congress for NJ delegation. He also was a staunch supporter of the US Constitution. Nassau Hall, which had suffered damages during the British Occupation during the Revolutionary War was rebuilt thanks to John Witherspoon."
