Reviews of Raritan Bay Area YMCA
"Why does the sauna get ruined all the time! it’s been like 20 times already this year alone that the suana just stops working then it takes like 2x weeks to get the repair man to fix it just for it could get ruined again! Also a suggestion kids or anyone under the age of 18 shouldn’t be allowed in sauna period!"
"Signed my kids up for swimming classes and last class got canceled and they pick a new date and didn’t care that both my kids can’t attend on a Friday due to the fact that I’m working! They use to go on Wednesday!! Very rude in the phone and Brenda the Boss never answered once I got transferred and also never gave me a call back when the front desk took my name and phone number!!! I’m calling now and the stopped answering my phone!! They all about the money don’t care about the kids swimming and learning!!! Never going back!! Now going to LA fitness instead paid more money!! Didn’t even refund money for the last class that got canceled!! Not the way u should run a business The very young kids in the front are very polite and respectful the older women that word under Brenda should learn from them!! RUDE!!! Today was my kids first class with British swim school at LA fitness and they learned more in 1 day then they did in 5 lessons at this place! Don’t waste your money"
"My family and I have been members for about 6 months now. We really like it and all of the staff. My children have taken their swim class(Norma is a great instructor), little ninjas and my daughter is still in martial arts with Matt.(another amazing instructor). The group swim class, in my opinion has too many kids but Norma still managed to teach them good skills. We had a concern about something in the swim class and it was immediately addressed by several staff members. Which we appreciated. They have a small day care room to leave the kids in while you work out. It's only 1 dollar per kid. I've only used it once but it seemed great. The woman watching the kids was very attentive, nice and sweet to my children. My only frustration is the price for the martial arts class seems to be a bit much and the class is very full now. However, I'm sure that is a reflection of what a great instructor Matt is. They often have free activities and events for the family but especially for the kids. The pool has free life vests for anyone in any size.if needed."
"I can only give one star because they do not have handicapped showers. I made them aware of their ADA non-compliance months ago and despite numerous promises, nothing has changed. The hot tub isn’t the cleanest. There’s usually foam on it. The pool is great and pretty clean. They say that they welcome people of all religions but be prepared to get faith based emails from them if you join. Staff is reasonably pleasant. The work out machines seem to be well maintained. Class instructors seem to be nice. The bathrooms are clean and the facility is very modern except for the ADA compliance."
"Was honestly pretty good. The amount of areas to work out are plentiful. The pool is cool and perfect for these upcoming summer days. The exercise equipment could use more variety and the pool could use more open lanes not taken up by local swim teams, but other than that, it's a great place to get that exercise plan going. 4.6/5"
