"Stay away from Karl Friedman. He gave us bad advice about the Healthcare Marketplace. And used my incorrect SS number for enrollment documents.Recently, we had an issue and he didn't return our calls for weeks. Once I reached him finally, he said he never got any of our emails, that they all must have gone into spam. (I know of at least one other person who had a similar experience.)My wife and I had to work it all out ourselves. And, BTW, I had explained to Karl that I was battling Stage 4 cancer. He could not give a hoot!"
"I had trouble with the Healthcare Marketplace on 10/29, so I contacted AmeriHealth NJ directly, who in turn directed me to Karl Friedman to get a policy for myself and my 1 month old son. After speaking to Karl briefly, he emailed me a list of policies available for us, despite the fact that I already had a policy selected with AmeriHealth which I was looking to sign up for. He pushed and pushed for me to sign up with HealthRepublic (which he's obviously getting a bigger kickback from), but I truly wanted the AmeriHealth plan, so we went with one from them. After not hearing back from Karl for over a week, and contacting him numerous times via email and telephone (leaving voicemails), he finally responded, claiming he "wasn't getting my emails". Well, Mr. Friedman, I suppose it's about time you get a new email account and a new telephone, because you sure seem to have trouble answering both of them. Once he responded, he still hadn't submitted anything, and when I discussed that we had to pay out-of-pocket for a recent pediatric visit with vaccinations, he says we could get reimbursed if we went with HealthRepublic. FINE KARL, we'll go with your company- even though no one has ever heard of it, including my doctor's office. Well, another week goes by, and my family and I were travelling for Thanksgiving. I notified Karl 4 days prior that I would really like to have at least a policy ID number to travel with, in case of emergency. No response until the last day of our trip! Also, the number we received? No good at our next pediatric appointment, which had to be rescheduled. I called HealthRepublic directly, who said the initial application wasn't finalized because the payment method (which I gave to Karl to be automatically deducted from the checking account) was never submitted. I got further in 5 minutes on the phone with HealthRepublic than I did in a MONTH with Karl Friedman. I settled the payment issues, which the customer service rep explained now included this month's premium (since Karl sat on my bank account information for so long), so I had the wonderful experience of paying nearly $1,000 all at once to simply get started with the policy. I since have received a WORKING policy number and had success at my son's last pediatric visit, so if you need health insurance, you'd be better off contacting ME than Friedman Benefits Group."
