Reviews of New Jersey Urologic Institute
"It took 11 weeks to get an appointment. One week before anyone answered the phone. Was left in an exam room and told Dr. Ghosh would be with me shortly. An hour later I heard a voice, for the third time, greeting patients in another exam room. I questioned a staff member and was told Dr. Ghosh is running late and usually does so. "But I am next". Thus pushing my appointment start time to 1 1/2 hours late. I arrived early for the appointment out of respect for the doctor and staff but I was countered with the opposite. Not even a warning when I arrived that my appointment would be delayed. I would have understood that things happen and I could have rescheduled; but no, they preferred to not tell me and waste my time. I informed the staff that I had another appointment to get to and if Dr. Ghosh just went into an exam room with another patient that I would need to leave to make my next appointment. She just looked at me and repeated "but you are next". Perhaps that would have been the time for an apology and maybe attempt to reschedule my appointment. But no, nothing. After experiencing this total lack of respect by the staff and doctor I decided nobody is worth waiting another 3 months. So I went home, called my local hospital and got an appointment with their Urology Department. I chose Dr. Ghosh because of her superior educational and work experience background as well as her sincerity seen in her YouTube videos. I was really looking forward to meeting her. I waited a day to write this review to see if my opinion would change. Unfortunately it didn't which leads me to believe NJUI and it's staff take advantage of the scarcity of local Urologists serving males. Dr. Ghosh may be a great doctor but if one can't get to experience it, how good is she really? Response to Owner Response: It didn't matter if I was a new patient or not. My appt was pushed back at least 1 1/2 hours. Delays do occur in ALL fields for various unforeseen circumstances. How an establishment handles these scheduling delays shows how good the establishment really is. Instead of a heads up when I checked in at 3pm I was abandoned in an exam room. So when I questioned a staff member at 4:15 I found that Dr. Ghosh had just stepped into another exam room. Still yet no apology nor any alternate solution. Just "You are next". I could have left the office at 3pm instead of 4:15pm if I was told the TRUTH up front. Seeing how patients are treated, I decided to leave and find another Urologist. I already have an appointment at Penn Medicine. It took a week and not three months. Your statement of blocking two hours for my appt is not only absurd but wouldn't have been sufficient time. Maybe one should block three hours if they want to use your facility."
"NASTY people!!! The woman who answered the phone was so rude and did not even know what the doctors office handled or did there. Did not know insurance information or what the excepted nor did not know the difference between Tier 1 and Tier 2. HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL. I repeated my question and say maybe there is a miscommunication she responded "OMG, IDC" and hung up the phone.. The doctors at this physicality should really re think who the hire!!!!"
"Trying to get an appointment for a relative was ridiculous. We finally manage to get one and are told they have $250 fee of you loss your appointment, then this office changed the appointment without prior knowledge, claiming they called us back which they had not to reschedule. Checked my phone records and no such call was received, trying to charge people $250 for missing an appointment you had no business rescheduling. We had to reschedule and wait an additional 3mo for an appointment. Finally went to the appointment and was told we could schedule the procedure anytime within a year of the initial consultation. Called to schedule the procedure and now they are saying it’s “been to long since the initial consult.” Its been less than 7 months. Terrible service. Don’t go here!"
"A once very good facility, but it appears, no more. It looks as if they very recently sold their practice out to Robert Wood Johnson. They cancelled my appointment in April '22 due to an emergency surgery they had to perform on another patient. When I tried to call to make another appointment, I was on-hold forever. I finally had to drive down there to make an appt. because I could not get them on the phone. The whole office changed, and I did not recognize anyone. They made an appt. months out. When I explained to them that they don't answer phone, the person at the dest simply said "we are busy". When I called to cancel the new upcoming appt. (since I found another Urologist), I could not get through to the office again,; so I had to write a letter to cancel. When these medical goups are bought out by the large hospitals, the front office workers are usually replaced by the Hospital's full -time staff. And, the doctors simply become salaried employees, as well. I guess that is what the Dr.s do when they decide to cash out their business right before retirement. This is sad, because NJ Uroloogy was once a very reputable facility in my opinion. I went there for 20 years. The feeling now is that they could care less. It appears to me now that the end game was all about the money. Sad."
"My husband has gone here for years. This is the kind of medical office that you either love them or hate them. If you’re the type of person who needs to be coddled and feels they need their every medical visit to be all flowers, wine, hand-holding and sweet, gentle words whispered lovingly in their ear, this isn’t the office for you. However, if you want top-notch, highly-skilled, excellent doctors who can quickly assess what your best course of treatment should be, who tell it like it is, and explain everything thoroughly, then you have found the right place. The clerical workers are hardworking and efficient, although the office is quite busy due to the popularity of the doctors, and seems a little understaffed. At times when they are very busy, an occasional staff member may come across as “unfriendly”. However, they aren’t there to be your friends. They’re not rude, they’re just quick and business-like. If you want friends, join a club. These people are there to do a job. They are professional, they know what they’re doing, and they do it well. Taking charge of your medical health and assuring you receive excellent care sometimes requires a bit of give-and-take. If you are willing to just have some patience, NJUI will provide you with the excellent care you want and deserve. I highly recommend them."
