Reviews of Spirit Builders LLC
"JUST LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE. Spirit Builders was the company I chose to hire for my required contract work on the first property I have ever purchased on April 2017. Spirit Builder was referred by my realtor who I cannot hold responsible for my horrible experience with this company. Especially since my realtor did such a great job in helping me purchase my new home. Monica Burns was who I directly dealt with during my time with Spirit Builders. Mrs. Burns is the wife of the owner of the company (Ron Burns). I hired them in April 2017 and the home was not move in ready until October 2017. I waited a total of 6 months for my home to be move in ready. I am aware that obtaining permits and certificates from the city of Pennsauken is a complete nightmare and takes time. However, the length of time Mrs. Burns and her husband took for my project was unacceptable. Mrs. Burns would go weeks without communicating with me and always had an excuse as to why she was not answering any of my messages. To give you an even better idea of how wonderful Spirit Builders customer service is, Mrs. Burns worked with me for 6 months and I only was able to meet with her personally once. She avoided meeting me face to face at all cost. When she did, she did not even consider getting out the car to shake my hand nor formally introduce herself to me. She had her niece in the car and stated she could not come out the car because her niece was there. Pure nonsense. I told Mrs. Burns she was welcome to take her niece out the car and inside the home so we can discuss the outstanding projects before I gave her my final payment. But refused to get out and did not want to discuss the final projects agreed at my home. She assured me over and over again that the outstanding projects will be met, but first needed the final payment to pay her team what she owed them. As a first-time home buyer and first time dealing with a contractor, I was naive enough to believe that if I gave Mrs. Burns my final payment she would keep her word, especially since Mrs. Burns told me over and over again that she and her husband run an honest/ethical and professional business. The one project I ultimately needed them to complete was to patch up and repair two big holes they put on my wall, near the downstairs bathroom, for plumbing repairs. The other stuff, I could live without. I have called, emailed, and texted Mrs. Burns multiple messages since the first week of October 2017, after I gave her my final payment. She has not had the audacity to call me back and explain what her company plans to do. To drive my point, and emphasize how unprofessional Mrs. Burns and her husband have been with me, one of her team members contacted me and explained to me that Mrs. Burns order that they do the bare minimum to pass inspection. And that has been the case. My plumbing is off and my electric is also off, both utilities have issues that no city inspector can identify during inspection time. In short, I warn you all to not hire such unprofessional people as Mrs. Burns and her husband’s company Spirit Builders. I did some additional research, after the fact, and the company has several pending law suits and complaints against them. Mrs. Burns should not be trusted and will mislead you with her contract work. I advise whoever is reading this to simply choose a different contractor and do your research. Spirit Builders is not the company you want, especially if you are new on choosing contractors. Update 12/2/2017 Mrs. Burns’ workmanship is so awful that today the brand-new fence she was ordered to put up, a month or so go, is now on the yard floor. The brackets that secured the fence cracked because they did not support the weight of the fence since they were plastic and not metal. Mrs. Burns appeared to have decided to use the plastic brackets to cut corners and pocket more money. Interesting enough, the other side of the fence that was put up has metal brackets."
