"Bought a cheap, silver ring with a (lab created, later learned) garnet... even though garnets are rather cheap. This ran me about $75, which is already very expensive for garnet/silver. I asked to have the ring made larger, and he happily obliged. He began, but stopped to say he "Couldn't cut Mexican silver" even though, he had already started to cut the Mexican silver. In less than three months, the silver coating wore off and the already small ring is now abrasive to wear. Maybe this ring was made of a weaker silver than my other rings of similar material, it sure now looks like it. Their higher end stuff looked nice, and they were very kind despite the dud."
