"The English Language Institute provides a cultural bridge for students and teachers. A global family we share languages, cultures and customs. I taught all levels at ELI including beginner, intermediate and advanced. TEFL certified, I incorporated my knowledge of curriculum development, learning theories and language acquisition to develop interactive, engaging and useful lessons. Classes were relatively small and therefore I was able to meet the needs and interests of all students. I highly recommend the ELI courses to interested students. Director Gonzalo Villena is excellent. His time, effort and dedication to making this program the best for students is admirable. He truly considers the needs of English language learners. Courses are available in reading, writing, grammar and TOEFL. Teachers at ELI are highly qualified and understanding. Learning a new language is scary. ELI provides a friendly, fun, and welcoming environment for all students to learn, thrive and grow."

"The English Language Institute at CUNY Staten Island prioritizes its students. Every teacher tries his/her best to meet the needs of each student. Director Gonzalo Villena is truly passionate and dedicated to this program. He ensures all professors and students work collaboratively to bring out the best in each other. As an English teacher at ELI I instructed CEFR A1 to C2. My courses were fun, interactive and helpful for all levels of students from the beginner to the most advanced. Every lesson included reading, writing, grammar and conversation activities that the students enjoyed very much. Students felt welcomed and comfortable participating and practicing their English. We enjoyed laughing, talking and creating an intercultural exchange. Good class sizes, well-trained and supportive teachers, helpful materials and lots of fun, ELI is a great program to improve your language skills. Choose from classes in reading & writing, speaking & listening, or TOEFL, you will gain the confidence and knowledge to use English in all areas of life."

"The English Language Institute is both a fantastic and professional learning center for English language learners of any and all ages. Students can take courses in reading, writing, grammar, and TOEFL subjects. Each class size is fairly small and students are able to collaborate with one another frequently during classroom activities. As a public school educator with prior ELL tutoring and teaching experiences in the secondary and post-secondary levels, it is truly great to teach at the ELI.
