Reviews of SAE Institute of Technology New York
"MUST READ! What’s advertised vs. What offered Hurts to say this as I did like 2 of the professors. BUT I would not recommend this school of you are doubling down in their sales pitch of finding you a job. I finished top of my class with the skill of being able to write and record myself playing instruments with different genres of songs from start to finish (has this skill prior to going into SAE. Yet, 1 year later after graduating and contacting the school. I am yet to see any realistic offers or assistance with this. I asked the school for assistance many times. They would help for about a week then I would hear nothing for months. I could’ve not gone there and been at the exact same spot as I am mow except now I have $12,000 debt for a program that did and does nothing for me. The jobs they find you are the freelancing stagehand jobs that past you less than what it costs ro you to travel to and from, other necessary tools you need and basic food costs. The others are maybe 1 or two 2 studio engineer jobs but they offer these to current graduates and ALL PARK GRADUATES that also are still looking for jobs. In other words, as someone with 10 years of production, recording and sound design under my belt. What they teach, today you can learn 100% from books and free YouTube videos. Save yourself $12k and I’d you really need to them research a local pro and pay them a small fraction if that to teach you. I apologize to there two people working in the care services department but it’s not your fault. The school just can’t provide offers too so many graduates and they can’t expect two people to solve that for the entire schools graduate population that continuously grows."
"Worst decision of my life!! Stay far away!!! Trust me"
"A couple years back about 2016 I think it was. I went to the attendance of the open house sessions. Matter of fact went went to the audio institute of research in that same week both of the schools are uptempo to myself. Which would make it a hard choiceful decision for me to make"
"A feel like after 15 months of interacting with SAE, I can assure you that 3 stars is all I can offer. As someone who had experience with DAWs and being a part of shows around NYC, I know for a fact that SAE NYC DOES NOT prepare you for entry level positions in the audio industry. Most of what you learn will be on your own or from fellow students (who tend to know more than the teachers in some / most fields). Also expect a portion of curriculum to be nixed as you get closer to graduation. And post graduation, expect to be shunned out and forgotten, left to your own devices to find a proper job that you can “fake” your way into because of the lack of experience and knowledge that the school can offer. Literally my first day as an intern taught me more about gear and a professional standard than SAE did. If you are completely new to anything audio related: this school may be for you. But if you have access to YouTube or LinkedIn Learning, that’s where most of the content spawns from. Not to say there aren’t great people / teachers / faculty that run the day to day; it just feels like the overarching system is flawed."
"Best audio engineering school ever!!! The entire faculty is extremely friendly and genuinely want to see you succeed. As for the teacher's... You can't find anyone better! Their knowledge is next level. Also they know how to connect with their class so the students can have a better experience and are more driven to learn. Thank You to everyone @ S.A.E.!!!"
