Reviews
"Coach Andy expertly introduced my son to chess and he was exceptionally good at developing his interest in the game. He is patient, skillful, and easily adaptable, depending on the student's preferred style. In addition to his high technical skills and very effective pedagogical approach, coach Andy also genuinely cares about a student's progress. Highly recommended."
"Andy is an excellent coach and my son has progressed tremendously under his guidance and seen a significant rating boost within the first year of instruction. Andy encourages and motivates kids to attend tournaments and provides a weekly update of the various upcoming tournaments to assist parents with the sign-up. His blog also has very useful information. He also gives homework each week that is reviewed at the beginning of each class. My son looks forward to his class each week and I believe that is the best testimony a parent can provide."
"Andy Dong is a thoughtful chess coach who tailors his coaching according to his students style, strengths and weaknesses. Being a strong player himself, he is actually more notable for being a successful chess parent, who has developed a top ranked chess prodigy of his own. He works well with players of all ages, and would be an ideal & nurturing coach especially for young chess players. He takes a systematic approach in his teaching. Overall, I am convinced that his influence will be beneficial for a child's chess as well as a positive attitude in life."
"Andy Dong is a excellent chess coach. He offers well structured classes for students ranging from beginners to very advances levels. The small class sizes enable in depth discussions and feedback for each student already during class time. Coach Andy effectively uses computer-assisted teaching tools tools to create an interactive learning experience. Students are prepared and strongly encouraged to play regularly in tournaments for which coach Andy sends weekly reminder emails. My son has very much enjoyed his classes."
"Andy is a seasoned coach. He has a pragmatic approach in training. He is committed to see his students succeed by playing in tournaments than focusing on classroom training alone. My son , who otherwise loses interest in any type of training quickly has liked the training and looks forward to going to the class every week. All in all a very good experience."
