Reviews of Thomas Jefferson Arts Academy
"These newer reviews are spot on. Thisl prob get deleted but I went to this exact school and stayed for four years until graduation. As a result I was BULLIED for four years straight. I'm still dealing with the trauma as I write this. Only it wasn't just the kids, it was teachers, and some Staff who would pick on the kids as well, as someone who was in special Ed, teachers and students casted us aside. And the best they could do was give them detention? As for the counselors they all say the same thing "just ignore it" not like this stuff traumatizes and stays with a kid long after leaving their school. There were only a handful of teachers who you could tell cared for the students, but even them too were cast aside by the school itself. I only hope, that things have changed so no more kids leave with a lack of self esteem and bitterness until their adult years. - Alexander matute"
"This is the worst school I have ever attended, Back in 2010/11 I moved to the area, The kids are simply bullies and traumatize each other. The teachers are lazy and do not care or report the incidents as long as their paycheck hits their bank account. Due to the high diversity, elevated levels of drug usage within the building and cigarette smoking outside the facility are noticeable. Most teachers act like nothing is wrong when students are bullying or mistreating each other because they are more scared to get killed once they step out of the school building. The crime rate is bad that students and teachers go along hand to hand to jeopardize the school system. While the school is considered an art school most kids are outsiders however, the popular kids seem to have control over the school. The administration is really bad they do not care about anything, back in the day we had different principles until Michael Ojeda finally stayed. Nonetheless, he is as despicable and careless as anyone else within the system structure. The security guards play favoritism within the popular kids. They would sell their safety if you give them snacks or (Girls) flirt with them. counselors are helpless, you cannot go and ask for help because they simply have no idea what they are doing or they simply reject the request. If you are reading this, plan ahead, I could not stay in this school for longer than 9 months. If you want to succeed and not get traumatized for life go elsewhere."
"This is a great school if you love the arts this is the school for you. It's never boring there's always something going on. The teachers and the principals are nice, and it's mixed there a little bit of every nationalities. This is the best school I have ever been, the people here are like family."
"I was harassed by a security guard at this school on a daily basis. Constantly being sent to the office where they were trying to suspend me because this one specific security guard was showing up to all 10 of my classes checking to see whether or not I had my school uniform on. The principal said that security was just doing his job by checking up on me daily. The principal tried to suspend me because I had a non uniform sweater on but the whole cafeteria had non uniform sweaters on too and only wanted to suspend me. I had a female tell me that she wanted to fight me because I bumped into her and apologized but she still wanted to fight me and told me she would rip my hair out too. I had a female take pictures of me because I didn’t have long hair and sent it to all her friends. I had a female throw a book at my back for no particular reason. Students like to bully the quiet kids for no reason."
