"I worked in this school for 2-3 times. For the last two times, the Principle got on me. First, she saw me using the staff lounge computers for personal stuffs. She told me to get off and said she is the principle. I left off and moved away. I also stopped going to that staff place all together. Last time, after I had my students on the rug and made sure they all stayed focused on the reading of the coteacher/sub, whom I asked to read because he didn't seem to do things on his own. I sat at the back of them knowing they are all in front of me. I took my book out to read feeling safe. I didn't want to feel bored sitting there. The main teachers saw me read and complained about it. The principle came and told me to stop, which I did. Then when I was leaving the building, she threatened to complain about me!!! I was shocked about her tone and manner. I could not believe the way she treated me. Other schools I went to do not mind this. So, I did not take my action anything serious. Also, I did this after I had my students under control and busy with their works. I was right there if anything should come up. I loved Cathy and her way to approach me. She made me feel like human being like herself and treated me well. I liked the school and the area. That's why I wanted to go there. However, as other reviewers said this principle has some discrimination issues, and I feel it too. She does. Who knows if I will never get work there again. I don't mind. I work in another school where I feel home at almost. People are nice and welcoming. Alhamdulillah. I am grateful to be here. Sometimes, they keep me even if there isn't any classes I need to cover. Those days sometimes become boring. Sometimes, I just want to go to another nice area. That's all. Alhamdulillah."
"School is only for rich white children and as a African American woman I have lived in TriBeca all my life and this school has always been for the rich white children in the neighborhood. They treat my daughter horrible I even had to call the DOE on Lisa the principle several times. PS/IS 89 IS MUCH BETTER and PS 150."
