"Marcus is builds a great rapport with everyone, right out of the gate. He is a master of conditioning people who want to play the guitar, to WANT to play the guitar, and is really good at teaching beginners—making the dry and not-so-engaging basics into engaging lessons. My only dilemma, and the only reason I don’t study with Marcus anymore despite him being a great guy and fantastic teacher, was that his curriculum for advanced students (particularly if you are focused on jazz) is sometimes limited. Sometimes, this is great, because if your basics do slip, he notices and helps you course-adjust. But eventually, you might need more than he can give you. That said, Marcus will always hold a place in my heart as a great guitar teacher and mentor and I’m grateful to have been his student. Even if he might not always teach the niche of what you want to learn, he has a level of comradery and poise in teaching that college professors often lack."
