About the Warwick Valley Central Transportation Center
The Warwick Valley Central Transportation Center, located at 63 County Route 1A in Warwick, New York, is a school institution dedicated to providing safe and efficient transportation for students. The Transportation Department prides itself on maintaining a fleet of buses in excellent mechanical condition, achieving an outstanding Department of Transportation rating of 99.4 percent. All buses undergo regular inspections and servicing to ensure the safety of the students.
To ensure the safety of students, bus routes are no longer printed on the school website or in local newspapers. Parents can access student bus information through the district’s Parent Portal in late August. Students must ride their assigned bus only, with exceptions requiring written permission from the transportation office and building principal. Buses will only pick up and drop off at designated stops, and students are not allowed to walk without permission.
Parents are reminded to have their students at the bus stop five minutes prior to their scheduled pick up time, as pick up and drop off times may vary during the first few weeks of school. Safety concerns regarding bus stops can be submitted through a Bus Stop Review Request. It is important to file for special transportation by April 1 for children enrolling in private or parochial schools.
The safety of students is a top priority, with all district personnel trained to handle bus emergencies. Bus safety drills are conducted three times a year, with the first drill taking place within the first seven days of school. Seat belts are available on all buses, and students are encouraged to use them for their safety.
Bus drivers undergo extensive training and background checks before being permitted to drive a school bus. New drivers must complete pre-service training and a comprehensive bus driver course within their first year of service. Mandatory safety refresher courses are conducted twice a year for all drivers and monitors.
