Reviews of Hunter's Point South Crossing
"Lived here for 2 years and moved to a tfc Building nearby and it's night and day. 3 elevators in this building for 32 floors and 15-20 apartments on each floor, you'll be waiting for 10-15 minutes for an elevator during rush hour. One elevator is also used as a service elevator, for garbage so it smells. Sometimes, an elevator is broken which leaves you with 2 elevators. I remember an elevator was broken for couple months. Also the revolving front glass door was broken for at least half a year without it being fixed. Gym is small but the doormen and workers are nice."
"Do not, under any circumstances, move into this building if you want to keep your mental and physical sanity. There is no active management, the building literally falls apart wherever you look. For 32 floors, there are 3 elevators, of which one is out of service for about 2 months now. A second elevator breaks down for a few days each week and yet, there is no concern by management to properly address it. To make things worse, the second elevator was in a free fall today with one of the tenants and her dog inside of it, both of whom are obviously traumatized. If you live in this building, I suggest to call 311 to complain about your living situation. If you don't live here, be happy and never consider moving in. The owners and management of this building treat this as a cash cow and they believe it is ok to do so because there are rental units for low-income families and they don't expect them to complain."
"I was living in a studio, which had plenty of room for a single person (2 large closets, full kitchen, big bathroom). You get a lot of natural light, even if you're opposite of the waterfront. Gym was small, but had enough equipment to get a light workout (treadmills, dumbbells 5lbs - 60lbs). A lot of schools and daycares opening in the area so maybe that's a plus to you. The issue started when I started seeing some weird bugs between my clothes and walls. I moved here in the winter and as the weather got warmer I started seeing more. I lived here for 5 years (2015 - 2020) and there was an issue with Silverfish insects on the 5th floor which never got resolved for me. The building sent pest control multiple times, but the issue was never resolved. The heating/cooling unit sometimes get loud due design, metal on metal vibration. This review is based solely on my experience while living at Hunter's Point South Crossing for several years."
"This building is poorly managed and terribly maintained. The elevators are always out of service for weeks to months at a time causing overcrowding in the lobby and a safety issue for residents, especially those with disabilities. Furthermore, the building amenities, facilities, and apartment heating and appliances are in constant need of repair. The hallways and storage units have no air circulation or temperature control which make summer months unbearable. The design and maintenance of common areas such as furnishings, carpeting, and wallpaper are all scuffed, torn, and peeling. Management doesn’t reply to emails or show any sense of urgency or care for the quality, care, or maintenance of the building, or quality of life for its residents. The other buildings along the waterfront are far more superior. Related Management doesn’t maintain this building with the same level of care as it’s others because it is a city-subsidized “affordable housing” development."
"The residents who living in this area get less stress because they are living near at a river and have a good view of Manhattan .They also get more freedom because of the park which gives them lots of things that they don't need to spend time to find a place to enjoy exciting activities such as kite flying and sandcastle building for kids , for adults like running , dancing , reading and horse riding . Lving and working in this area they always have a thank you mind for the city which had made this good environment for them ."
