"American Flyers is an amazing school. I primarily worked with Alex Katz and Joe Nelly, I highly recommend you ask to work with any of them, I’m sure the rest of the team is great too. Their safety level is above and beyond, they are organized, very skilled and they will train you to become a safe pilot, not just to pass the check ride. They are very professional and respectful, and will always try to help you in your educational journey. The only problem I had with them is the schedule, they need more and more organization with the schedule. Many times they were giving me the opposite schedule and this caused me a lot of frustration and stress that affected my ability to learn. If they manage to work on this, they will be the best of the best in the area. Schedule was the only thing that made me think of another option. However, they are still in my opinion the best!"
"This has been one long life goal dream coming to an aviation school and American flyers are making it happen in the best way possible as long you take time to study and prepare yourself for the test you going to be in good hands."
"Went to the Morristown location for an introductory flight. Everyone is super helpful. Had the luck to work with Ethan and also with Daniel. First time the flying part had to be rescheduled due to unfavorable weather. Just had the flight as well. Fantastic experience. Recommending everyone to try."
"Started training in May 2022 for my private, finished February 2023. Most of my training was completed during the summer since I am still in high school. Over the summer my training experience was excellent and I learned a ton during that time period. However once school started I feel like I was tossed aside in the scheduling process. It was a constant uphill battle to get on the schedule at the correct times. I would set my availability, and they would give me the exact opposite. When I would try to change it to the correct time, I was told all the planes were booked already. This was extremely frustrating and severly delayed my training several times. Several instructors also agreed that without these issues, I would have finished my check ride by early December. I trained primarily with Ben Ridgeway, who if you have the opportunity to fly with, will love. Ben is by far the best instructor I flew with at American Flyers. He was patient with me and allowed for me to grow as a pilot. He is also pretty young which allowed me to connect with him better and understand when I really needed to improve a landing or maneuver. Ben over prepared me for my check ride and without him I probably wouldn't have passed."
"TLDR- amazing school, supportive community, go fly! The instructors at this school are walking aviation encyclopedias. I’ve caught numerous instructors reading the FAR AIM for fun in their spare time. There is a tremendous wealth of knowledge in the extremely supportive community at the school. I completed all of my private pilot, and instrument training here. During my instrument training, I was at the school almost everyday to the point it felt like a second home. Along the way I found so many valuable mentorships and friendships within the instructors, management team, and other students. I felt very prepared for my checkrides, as well as actually being a real pilot outside of the school. I can’t recommend this flight school enough. And special shoutouts to the instructors I worked with- Alex Katz, Bobby Guerra, Daniel Fiel, Daniel Russel, Ben Ridgeway, and Ryan Yawger. And of course Geoffrey Debach."
