Reviews of Chelsea Ridge Apts
"The worst experience with the weakest performance of managing a residential complex. Although it is a very old and large complex, the method of housing procedures completely lacks professionalism. If you are accustomed to professional residential complexes in the area, I advise you to stay away from them due to their lack of familiarity with the system and poor communication between the work team and management. At first they will welcome you (or your money), and then they will make you feel like you will rent the last apartment in the world and start complicating things with absurd requests!! And even when you provide these requests for them, they eventually ask you for bird’s milk. I found the insult and discrimination in their dealings completely unacceptable. Next time they better just be honest with people and show more respect and professionalism."
"At first they will welcome you and make everything seems so smooth and easy to apply. But after taking the application fee they change their treatment with disrespect and discrimination. and they start inquiring impossible information that no one could need to share for approval just to get rid of u."
"We lived in Chelsea Ridge apartments for seven years and just moved out, so at this point, I could probably write a book about our experience. The first five years we lived there, we were very happy. We always felt the price was fair. The grounds are kept neat. Nice neighbors. It was a friendly, generally safe neighborhood. We felt like we could've lived there forever. We really did not start to absolutely hate it there until after the pandemic. Before continuing, I want to point out that we never ONCE were late with our rent or had an issues there. We were really great, respectful tenants. The last two years, we started having a lot of major maintenance issues. Our master bedroom would flood almost every single time it rained a lot. Our carpets in the whole house had become so old and worn out (they were not new when we moved in) that they were bubbling up really bad to the point you would trip on it sometimes, the seams were showing all over, and there were areas of the carpet that literally had no carpet fibers left on it. The paint on the ceilings was peeling, probably from the many instances where water would run through our bathroom ceiling. Our entire bathroom vanity was peeling, we assume from the poor ventilation in the bathroom (keep in mind we showered with a fan on, and with the door open). Our back sliding door never really opened and closed well and the handle would constantly fall off. The oven was literally rusting on the outside. They were always tons and tons of bugs in our apartment, assuming from the missing bricks on the outside of the building. The fridge would often have issues with leaking water all over the floor. We even had one instance where we came home to literal sewage flowing out of our toilet, and into our hallway carpet. The overflow was so deep that our bathroom door was warped from being wet and needed to be replaced. They did try to sanitize everything as best they could, but considering this was literally other people’s waste and sewage in our home, it felt like a bit of a biohazard as there’s no real way to properly sanitize porous grout and wood cabinets and carpeting. With all of this happening over the last fews years, it felt like a disgusting slap in the face to receive an 11% rent increase after COVID. Don’t be surprised when they raise your rent every single year. It used to be $30 or $40 a year raise, which we always felt was reasonable, but the last two years it was much much more. It just became far too expensive for the quality of living there. We knew we could live somewhere much nicer for the same price. We are now in a townhome that nearly double the size, with an extra bathroom, bedroom, and a washer/dryer in unit and barely paying more than we were at Chelsea. While we had been so happy there for so many years, it became quite insulting to continue living in a place that had the nerve to continually raise our rent, while we were living in garbage conditions. By the end of the seven years, I was honestly embarrassed to have people over to my house. It felt like we were living in a slum, meanwhile my rent was higher than my friends mortgage payments. I will say, the maintenance crew at Chelsea Ridge is top notch and so under appreciated. They were always so quick to respond to issues to the best of their ability. Very friendly and always did a good job. The office staff was lovely as well. I absolutely got the sense that the upper management really holds these people back from doing their jobs the way they should be done because of money (DHM doesn’t want to spend money to actually repair anything, just bandage them up until the next person comes). We will definitely be missing the staff there and it’s literally the ONLY thing I’m sad to leave behind a Chelsea Ridge. I totally get that times are tough right now with rentals and you might be feeling desperate to find a home. If you end up renting in Chelsea Ridge, just be prepared for the possibility of a lot of maintenance issues and excessively high rent increases each year."
"The best apartment I have ever lived in. Dog friendly, Quiet, clean and the management office and maintenance always handle issues immediately. Seriously maintenance crew is the best. They always go above and beyond to fix things. Rent price you get what you pay for. Also the laundry machines have an app you can use instead of quarters, very convenient. Neighbors keep to themselves, no issues. I would live here forever if it wasn't that the commute to my job is far."
"I enjoyed my time here. Finding a unit was a bit aggravating at first because they have to many people in the leasing office and you’re always getting a different person. They are kind and helpful but I felt like I needed to repeat myself all the time. Their maintenance staff is ON TOP of their stuff. Receptionist at the maintenance office is kind and the staff are great. I love that they accept pets here and offer many “poop stops” with trash and bags offered, it’s the terrible tenants that don’t pick up after their pets that ruin it for everyone else. I do recommend this place."
