Reviews of Gateway Apartments
"The property management is not worthy the rental price. They are fully disconnected from sale and the property management. My self-inspect before the move in finds a lot of problems and submits to property management to fix. They acknowledge the issues, but it becomes worse. The door of bath room is not fixed and a lot of decoration materials are still in the room. It’s really hard to imagine it. Heating doesn't work as warm-proof of the building is a problem. In my apartment there are many cracks on the wall and keeping warming is hard to achieve, so it cause $500 electric bill."
"This place is the worst!!! My friend spent time there during thanksgiving holiday. She was harassed, abused and racially profiled in the apartment building. DO NOT STAY IN THIS PLACE!!! FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. Let’s not talk about the bugs in the room and how management tried to gaslit my friend, telling her “it was just a couple insects” You are better off staying in a car than this place."
"Avoid this rental building! Worst building in Battery Park. Management team is unprofessional, the elevators are constantly breaking, expect long lines to use them and the ongoing repair process will take months! (Maybe years) The elevators run at over capacity in rush hours, which is clearly a safety concern (some days they all/most stop working). The security/cleaning crew is super friendly and helpful, but management and overall experience is terrible."
"I had a seamless move-in experience at Gateway Apartments, thanks to the outstanding help from the leasing manager, Kireolos. He was incredibly responsive and helpful from start to finish. The apartment itself is fantastic, and the community is welcoming. I'm thrilled with my choice to live here and highly recommend Gateway Apartments to anyone looking for a great place to call home."
"Gateway is the worst building in battery park city by far. Every effort to improve the building typically makes it worse. Broken appliances are replaced with older appliances that barely work better than the broken ones. The paint on our ceiling started cracking months after they painted it. Recent improvements to the water system now mean that there is almost 0 water pressure if anyone in any apartment near you showers or even flushes the toilet. Surely after the upcoming elevator “upgrades”, the elevators will be even worse than they are now. Possibly the biggest advantage of Gateway, the access to the river, is also about to be a liability when construction starts for the resiliency plan. Wagner Park is already closed and the rest of the neighborhood is soon to follow. Be warned that Gateway will increase your rent, often by more than 30%, even if you are good tenants with strong ties to the community such as kids in nearby schools. They possibly target people with kids in schools because they know you have incentives to stay. There was a time when I recommended Battery Park City as a nice, family-friendly place to live, but those days are sadly long gone."
