Reviews of SilverLake
"All of the people that made these reviews with low ratings are 100% correct. This is a place to avoid at all costs. Some of the people who commented 5 stars are indeed employees of Aion Management. Since January 2021, there have been about 4 or 5 instances of management change for this property. Management is awful in terms of their communication with the residents, as I've had to e-mail and call multiple times on several different occasions to even get a confirmation from them that they've acknowledged my original e-mails. Pros: - The apartment itself is nice. Appliances are new, master bathroom and walk in closets are large. Cons: - Poor management & communication with residents: See above. - Consistent issues with elevators and equipment (mostly prevalent in 2022, have been better in 2023) - Parking: $125 per month for non-privatized parking, as it is connected to the SuperFresh parking lot, as well as a Phenix Salon. If you would like truly private garage parking, it'll be $175 per month. Thankfully, you can park on the street with a town parking permit for $5 a year, right outside the apartment complex on Belmont Avenue. Furthermore, Management has made it clear that even if your car is registered in the system, if you park in the SuperFresh or Phenix parking spots, they will tow you. There is also no designated visitor parking, and visitors must park on the street. - Unwilling to negotiate reasonable rent prices: For a 1 year renewal from 2021 to 2022, Silverlake tried to increase my rent by 10%, which is extremely unreasonable. Belleville renters board is a 4% rent increase maximum per year, but being a new complex, Silverlake does not have to abide by this until the end of 2024. That instance alone made me realize that Aion Management truly does not care about their residents, regardless of their longevity and loyalty at their properties. - Noisy neighbors (above & below): Noise does not hold well in these complexes. There are no requirements for rugs or coverage of floors, as all the floors are hardwood, which makes it very noisy. - Trash Rooms: On a consistent basis, the trash rooms are absolutely disgusting. Tenants do a poor job of taking care of these rooms and actually disposing trash, but even worse, dumpsters will be sitting outside for weeks on end in the Summer, full of garbage. I sent multiple e-mails to the staff about this, as it is a hazard to residents and pets. - Amenities: As previously mentioned in other reviews, tenants do not have respect for amenities. From broken pool cues and paddles, to missing items from the common areas, and tenants leaving their dog poop all over the dog park on a consistent basis, it's virtually impossible to enjoy any of the amenities, especially when some of the amenities, like the Common Room, are rented out on the weekends for parties. While I am grateful for my actual apartment, I'm happy to be leaving this place. It's truly a shame the way that management has handled this new property, as well as tenants mistreating it. Furthermore, for anyone at Aion Management reading this, don't try to contact me. I've tried to contact you all for 2+ years in a timely manner, and you've failed to do so effectively. My opinion: Avoid at all costs, and only live here if you truly have no other option."
"Peaceful, safe, convenient and clean apartment.. Would like to commend Eonah, she is very welcoming and accommodating. Pleasant personality. As well as Paul. Felt homey the moment we stepped in. Looking forward to be living in this apartment. Update: as a tenant, one has to be aware of the requirements and procedure in order to go through the process of leasing. You have to be patient and abide by the terms as you are to stay in a cozy, convenient and friendly environment, the management has all the right to ask for valid documents, check for credibility of there tenant to maintain a safe community and someone that will value the place. Paul did great in going through with us in every detail of the process, assisted us extra mile, accommodated all our queries and valued our time. Communication is always two way in order to meet once expectation. Thanks paul :).. We manage to settle everything in 2weeks, it is indeed for us:).. Thanks be to God. If there is one thing to improve must be the parking, as it happened couple of times on a weekend that someone park their car on our spot. The signage is either not big enough or people just ignore as they can freely park.. there should be a barrier or any sorts of gate that won’t be accessible by the public since it’s a paid parking."
"The reviews about management and the leasing/application process are accurate. I applied several weeks ago with a co-signer and everything on the application process was approved. I sent in my info including paystubs and did the background and credit check. I had multiple calls from management every other day calling to confirm my info then they send an email asking for paystubs and bank statements. Which is odd because they already requested and approved them during the application process online. Then 5 days after I was approved all around they told me they needed my bank statements to be sent again and that based off of my application it looks like I would be approved for the $750 security deposit. 2 days later they call again to my co-signer asking for more info. Finally after another 3 days pass we get an email stating that we were denied and no actual reason why but just a copy and paste email. So of course I called because after everything they made us go through and what they had been saying I don’t get why we weren’t approved. Paul told me the reason was because I didn’t make 3x the rent and the co-signer didn’t make 5x the rent. I have never heard this before. They had my paystubs since the first day of application, the second time they requested online and called us several days later saying so far we were approved. How does this happen? My co-signer is a retired Veteran and retired federal officer. We both have clean records and good credit. I take it as a blessing in disguise because if this is how they run business I can only imagine the chaos of actually living there. It’s a red flag that it’s “luxury” apartments but valued so cheap! Look somewhere else, something scammy is going on there."
"If you can avoid this place, PLEASE DO. I was looking for an apartment & came across this one, so I decided to tour to see what it’s about. Did the tour & decided that I’ll apply. I paid the application fee & completed the form. After a few days, I saw that I was “approved”, and a profile was created for me with an apartment number that was assigned, and it was showing a balance amount was due so I paid it (~$773). I kept calling the building to receive updates after I paid the the balance that was displayed, but was unable to get in contact. When I finally was able to, I was told that “I was never approved”, and that I would be refunded. This occurred the beginning of May and it is now the end of August, and I have yet to receive a refund of my money. It appears that I’ll have to take the small claims court route because I absolutely refuse to be robbed by such a business. So take it from myself and the other individuals who are giving real reviews about the horrible practices of this place: STAY AWAY and look elsewhere, because dealing with this place will leave you highly disappointed. They’re just looking to steal money from you. Don’t be fooled by the “friendly appearance” of the management staff, you’ll be highly disappointed in the end. 9/5 update: I’ve been trying to contact them for months for my refund, and all I keep hearing is “we’ll check on that and call you back”, and I’ve yet to receive a call back. I will be reporting to the Better Business Bureau, and I will be taking them to small claims court. Save your money and stay clear from this place."
"Now that I'm looking at these reviews I really wished I had saw them before even visiting. The people in the management office are terrible and the ownership should be ashamed and pay attention to people like us who are giving these reviews. First: I called to reschedule my tour and they couldn't reasonably oblige. (Sasha & Paul) Second: I get there thinking I can take a look at building real fast and they want to FORCE me to do articles of paperwork and verify I am the person who scheduled the tour. (Yes people I'm the person who just called asking to reschedule for half hour later and you couldn't work with me, so yes I'm here!) Forcing me and telling me no I cant look at anything unless I fill out this paper that clearly states is optional and they can fill it out based on what they think. The paper should literally be for people actually applying. Once the tour was done Paul starts explaining this horrible process and the nonsense of wanting 8 weeks of paystubs and 2 months of bank statements. Not impossible but if you ask me is disrespectfully annoying. It doesn't even sound like its really needed but more of a "stick it to you plot" than find a way to get your application denied or lost or whatever they can do. All in all I wasted my time because the whole process just turned me off to the point that I wouldn't want to spend a dollar with the way these people treated me. AION Management really needs to do something about these people, Too bad the management place has a 1.6 on reviews though so I guess nobody cares!"
