"Love these reviews. Sounds like Paterson Counseling in the 80- 90s. Lines went around the.block. Just as many dealers on main st, as ppl waiting to get in to dose. Counseling was just a silly policy they were mandated to have." Us versus them" mentality was the norm. Not familiar with this place ,but I'm 66 yrs old now & in south jersey at a clinic in Brick. Monthly take homes. Only 400 ppl. Medicare pays. It's all good so far. These places vary, move on if you can. Don't wait 30 years like I did Good luck my brothers & sisters"
"The tech opened and left out the door while I was putting my clothes together and closed my sample out of staff and my view. So this must be condoned here by staff because her reply " I'm sorry I made you uncomfortable" if the shoe was on the other foot. They aren't listed as any accredited place period."
"ORIGIN POST (May '23): The staff miscommunicates information to patients consistently. Even if you follow the rules and are compliant they still cancel appts, stall you on take home bottles, and place you in mandatory groups where other patients are falling asleep or ignoring the rules when you are abiding them. The worst part, when you receive take home bottles, they will take them away suddenly for concerns the patient was NEVER made aware of (see update), and it's always the staff's word against the patient's word. Even if you can prove that staff was wrong, it doesn't matter; the patient suffers the consequences. UPDATE (Sept '23): Changes to rules & regulations can be done with NO NOTICE to the patient; which can adversely affect the patient. Please be aware that you must abstain from ALL drugs AND alcohol, no matter what you are being treated for. When patients that were not being treated for alcohol abuse, occasionally had a glass of wine, and would only need to go to NBCC twice a month, then would be told at their visit they would not receive take home bottles and would need to come everyday starting immediately; this would make any patient upset, as well as disrupt their daily life. This change had started a few months ago, but yet, patients are still NOT being advised of this change; at this time, assume the issue has still not been addressed by the facility."
"Every employee has taught me so much about myself and how to reach out for help. I have been listening to all the complaints about everyone who works there but never hear anything about clients' behaviors. We have to want to put in the work in order to get well. These folks are here to guide us to get us clean/sober. As for the money issues, how is the clinic supposed to run? It's been my experience over the last 11 yrs that the help is here for the asking. We never complained about the craziness the dealers put us through and rudeness??? This is just one RECOVERING addict's opinion though. We're all here for different reasons."
"This is absolutely a horrible place to get treatment. They get rid of the older more experienced counselors just to fill them with younger counselors that are right out of school. They personally have no experience themselves with addiction. A book cannot teach you about the ins-and-outs of addiction it takes both experience and education to experience fully what an addict goes through. They can pay the younger ones less and control them more. They treat the clients with no respect. They don't care how long you were a client at the clinic and how much clean time you have working their program. They are rude and treat every client as if they were a lying thieving stealing addict in active addiction. If you work in any type of treatment facility you must realize that these people are battling for their lives. They do not need to be judged by someone who they are expecting help from. They have no problem taking their money or their Medicaid but they cannot treat them with respect. People choose to go there not everyone is court-mandated or court-ordered to go there. They go there because they want to change their life they want something more then a life of addiction. If someone chooses to work in this field they need to keep that in mind and stop treating addicts poorly. They are battling the disease of addiction and it is definitely hard enough. Have a heart have compassion and treat everyone with respect. Otherwise find another job if you think that addicts will never recover and there is no hope for them. It's almost like they have no hope in their own program actually working and they always feel that everyone that goes there is lying and not working the program to the fullest. One of the worst people that work there is the head of Nursing her name is Pyle. I have heard nothing but complaints about her and every time I am at the clinic she is always treating another client disrespectfully in front of everyone embarrassing them and humiliating them and telling them that her word is the final word. If you want help go to another clinic I have experienced nothing changing in the past 5 years and everything only getting worse. Bottom line Recovering addict or not Human beings deserve respect. If you're running a treatment facility of any kind Your clients pay for your business and deserve fair treatment.People in recovery face enough discrimination they don't need to be discriminated in the place they're turning to for help. Get it together New Brunswick Counseling Center. Maybe ask your clients for some opinions or advice on how to make your program better. Get rid of your employees that are constantly getting complaints.Your client voices deserve to be heard. Let them know your listening. Tell them how great they are doing. Your lack of believing your clients can succeed and believing in them truly says a lot about your own Faith and belief in the program you are providing. Not everyone is a liar and cheat and addicts do RECOVER... Treat your clients as if you believe in that and what your selling."
