"Absolutely the best facility and most caring people I’ve ever come across. Shout out to everyone at the nurses station for holding it down for me when I was at my lowest. I am not a fan of any facility whatsoever but these guys genuinely do it right. Can’t thank y’all enough. Best nursing staff ever"
"My most important medication was left in the safe. Then after being treated like an inebriated child all weekend all of the sudden I was to blame! Don’t go here unless u want to feel enraged :)"
"I was real nervous to come here at first, but the staff made it real comfortable for me real fast! Clara is a godsend and such a beautiful soul kept checking in on me every time she came in for her shift kept telling me “you can do this, one day at a time” Jen and Glen the nurses were amazing, also all the techs were real cool def made you feel good, if you need any help def check out sunrise in stirling! You won’t be disappointed, thanks again guys you changed my life love you all!"
"My experience in this facility went above and beyond what I hoped it would be. The entire staff was courteous, respectful & sympathetic with my extreme alcohol withdrawal. I will forever be indebted to the amazing people. Even the Chef’s were therapeutic. I loved my experience here. Thank you to all the staff at Sunrise!"
"Sunrise Stirling NJ. It’s a mixed bag. This was my second admission in a couple years. Everything was positive for the first 4 days out of my 5 day stay. The general day to day staff (nurses, tech’s and even the housekeeping crew) was very friendly and gave me the respect and treatment that made me feel like I was in the best facility for my needs. It felt a bit professionally loose feeling. But regardless the staff eventually provided what I needed to want to stay. The “tech’s were also hit or miss. There is a massive employee turnover with the “techs”. (A couple employees confirmed it. Told me the stories) So most of that staff felt like they were learning while on the job. Some were 20yrs old to late 20’s Nothing wrong with being young. But I still felt that they were thrown in to the deep end of the pool. There were a lot of blank faces when basic questions were asked. I have to call it OUT!.Sunrise confiscates your phones and money/wallets/purses/watch… or anything they deem dangerous or detrimental to your treatment. Two staff members (different departments) told me Sunrise will let you keep your phone for an extra $1000 (no typo) day but they can only use it in a private room. I found this out when I passed by a room with a patient on his phone. And again walking down the hall seeing a woman on a cell phone. The man actually was scolded in the cafeteria because he had his phone with him. I felt like it was supposed to be kept a close secret not to offend anyone without $1000. So. It really stunk when you bonded with a nurse they were replaced the next day. Nurses were funny. Personable. Really great. The Nurse Practitioner in charge of meds did not spend enough time with me (or anyone I spoke with) discussing medications. Spoke to me for less than 1 minute and he made med and dosage decisions. I only saw him once in 5 days. That’s nuts to me. Feels like he just floats between facilities. Felt like that’s standard practice. Than the councilors. Totally random assignments. You can get a great one. Or an unqualified (with a degree I think) one (IMO) with what feels like a god complex. Starts with Z and ends with a yak. This is one of few councilors that really does not understand addiction (in my opinion). I think he read a lot about it. But his experiences in addiction are all theoretical. In 5 days I spent less than a total of 60-70min but he thought he had me pegged and was totally condescending and flat out rude to me. When Z held a group meeting patients were literally flat out head on the table asleep. Z is a fluke at Sunrise. The other councilors were upbeat and enthusiastic about the message of sobriety . I believe Z would fit perfectly as a high school disciplinarian or vice principal. Not a counselor. Again this my my opinion and experience. And I’m not saying that as an insult. It’s just a better fit. I do have a axe to grind (on my end of 4th to 5th day) on the compartmentalization of the staffing. One knows anything about what the other is doing. There was a ton of “I don’t know. Ask someone else”. Especially when I was being discharged. It was unreal. Sunrise has provided transportation to and FROM their facility 3 times in my family in the last 4 years. My randomly assigned councilor (Z) told me Sunrise would NOT be providing me with transportation home. “Frankly you are going back to a toxic environment. And we will not provide you with transportation.” In a small amount of time Z decided to basically strand me. With no recommendations of where I should go. We had a back and forth with other councilors in the vicinity. Other councilors wouldn’t speak up. After I walked away 2 councilors spoke to me in private and told me they did not agree with Z but there’s nothing they can do without undermining him. I did ask Z if he’d give me a ride home. See it for himself. He declined. $70 Uber later and I’m home. Great first 4 1/2 days even with the things I criticized. Hope you made it through the review!"
