"What can I say. There's no place more magical. I grew up right here. I shared my desk in 2nd grade with a black boy, and Indian girl, a Hispanic boy, and a Korean girl. It was the definition of a melting pot. Our teachers were real teachers, who made decisions about what we learned and how to teach us. Just a few weeks ago, I found an old copy of the departing speech I gave at our graduation, all hole punched edges from old school printers, rusty staple in the corner, still crinkled from my back pocket. "...as we leave behind PS84 and the 20th century, we begin a journey into a new millennium. There we will find our future..." Haa! Dam, 11-year-old me was so much cooler than now me. Lots of wonderful memories in this place. Any kid would be lucky to have grown up there. More than a hundred years of fine schooling."
