Reviews of Shukette
"Shukette in NYC offers a vibrant exploration of Middle Eastern cuisine, presenting a menu that tantalizes the senses and invites diners into a world of rich flavors and aromatic delights. My experience at this gem in the heart of the city was nothing short of remarkable. The evening began with their selection of breads, among which the Moroccan bread stood out for its impeccable texture and flavor - a clear winner that set a high standard for the courses to follow. The hummus was another highlight, proving to be one of the best I’ve had; its creamy consistency and depth of flavor were truly incredible. Moving on to the mains, the meatballs and cauliflower each told a story of meticulous preparation and a deep understanding of spice and flavor. The meatballs were succulent and well-seasoned, while the cauliflower was a revelation, showcasing how a simple vegetable can be transformed into a dish of complex flavors and textures. The ambiance of Shukette complements its culinary offerings, with a vibe that’s authentically Middle Eastern yet uniquely New York. The service was attentive, enhancing the overall dining experience. In summary, Shukette is a standout for those seeking to indulge in Middle Eastern cuisine. With solid food across the board, from the breads to the hummus to the main dishes, it’s a place that promises and delivers a delightful culinary journey. A solid choice for anyone in NYC looking to dive into the flavors of the Middle East."
"Shukette made me experience a unique and exotic cuisine. The grilled fish was very unique and flavorful. There were many and good selection of bread and sauces! I chose the traditional FRENA paired with NOT YOUR AVERAGE HUMMUS. The price was average for NYC, but the service and atmosphere exceeded that and my expectations."
"Came here for a birthday celebration..Food was delicious. It would be very helpful if there's a mark to show dishes are spicy. With all the ingredients in the menu, it's hard to tell. Service was ok, We didn't like how they kept watching or checking on us to see when we're done because a lined formed for people waiting for tables to free up. So didn't like that. Place is nice and cozy. Square tables were def more conformable and the round tables could be a bit tight. The vibe was lively and they were playing 90s music, so was nice. But it was a bit noisy. We had a hard time hearing each other. Def recommend this place. Everything we had was delicious. Steak kekab. Spicy fries, beet salad, chicken nuggets, and more. Just know what to expect when you go there and read the items on the menu carefully."
"Outstanding food and staff members. Visited many times and have never been disappointed. Staff members are always very helpful and personable. If you are seated at the counter, you get to see that 6-7 cooks are managed by a chef to deliver outstanding food in front of your eyes. Great experience all around!"
"If I had the chance, I’d give 10 stars. Being very familiar with Mediterranean cuisine, I never ever experienced such an amazing food. Definitely a must try. If I come to NYC again, no matter how long I stay, I’ll make sure to come back to this place. Every single dish we ordered, had a unique taste and was very creative. Thank you so much for this experience."
