"I have lots of positive things to say about NYC Racquet Sports. Most important to me is that I’ve been there twice, and they didn’t try to upsell or oversell me on something I didn’t want or need. In fact, all of the prices here are cheaper than or competitive with anything you can find online. The turnaround time is also very fast. I dealt with the owner Woody for my own equipment which is a solid but older model racquet. We chatted briefly, and he recommended upgrading my grip from the stock material, which I hadn’t considered. He also kindly recommended tweaking the stringing tension to suit my age and conditioning. “As we get older we need the equipment to work for us.” When I was buying my teenage son’s first racquet, I was helped by Rafa, one of the associates and stringers. He presented us four options in low to medium price range, $100-$160, and he really leaned in recommending the $100 racquet. I was most impressed how he talked me through budget conscious ways the racquet could grow with my son over the next two years until he is ready for a step up (upgrading the strings, using grip wrap). At another store in Midtown they immediately tried to sell me a $250 racquet, and scoffed when I suggested that might be overkill for a 14 year old beginner. Overall Woody and Rafa built a lot of customer trust over both of these transactions. Highly recommend."

"Wow. What a great experience my son and I just had at NYC Racquet Sports. We came in from Jersey City given all the great reviews and huge selection of equipment and apparel. Woody helped my nearly 12 year old, somewhat beginner tennis player figure out exactly which racquet was best for what he was trying to do in his current tennis journey. He asked good questions, listened and offered suggestions at difference price points. The guys stringing the racquets were clearly good at their craft. Even the guy who painted the logo on the strings was helpful in teaching Oliver about doing the same at home. We ended up also buying a fantastic Wimbledon bag and a Babolat hat. When we left, my son said that was the best experience he’s ever had in a shop. I agreed. Thank you Woody and team for making that whole thing educational, pleasant and memorable. "Great staff that care! I went through a crazy saga where I bought a high end racket that developed a defect, and then several additional replacement rackets also had the defect. Woody the owner was determined to get me a perfect racket and stuck with me through several returns and several visits to the store, maintaining responsive and cordial communication throughout.
