"Douglas and his team at Hudson Cabinetry did a fabulous job building us a custom cabinet. We were thrilled with the quality of his work and the efficiency with which he handled our project. We have been using one of our bedrooms as an office, for years. We seemed to always have clutter and disorder—not a good thing in a space dedicated to clear, sound thinking! We needed more storage space and a clean look that would play well as background on Zoom calls. Douglas visited our apartment and offered his advice. He prepared plans and accepted suggestions on how to improve them. As we moved forward, we made a couple mistakes. Doug noticed them and helped us correct them before they became problems. On the day of installation, Douglas and his team showed up on time and with everything they needed to do the job. They were polite and as clean and quiet as is possible when creating new furniture. They worked steadily through the day and in the early afternoon our cabinet was ready for final touch up and adjustments. We now have a huge amount of new space. Three closets and many roomy drawers have allowed us to generate space across all our other storage areas. The color and handles are perfect—just what we wanted. "Pure class. I called Doug at Hudson Cabinetry Design early in the process of commissioning a 15-foot built-in, floor-to-ceiling media wall unit. He was incredibly generous with his time, spending about an hour discussing our goals and his company's capabilities. We ended up hiring a different company with a lower quote. But progressing the project with them ended up being a huge struggle, and two months in, they just stopped responding. We quickly went back to Doug, and the difference in professionalism was striking. He was at our apartment the next day to take measurements, significantly improved on the other company's preliminary design, and gave us a reasonable work timeline that held. Doug also pointed out the inferior materials and fabrication proposed by the other company that had allowed them to quote lower. Throughout the process, Doug was very responsive and provided invaluable guidance. We had specific dimensional requirements to maximize storage for a vinyl record collection, while keeping aesthetics in line with our pre-war apartment. Doug always gave us a range of good options when it came to design choices, and was patient and accommodating through rounds of tweaks. We especially appreciated his candor when we floated ideas that he didn't think would work well. The installation team—Cesar, Don Bolivar and David—were also fantastic. In addition to top-notch work with clear attention to detail (especially along our uneven ceiling and floor, and around existing mouldings), they were super friendly, tidy, and respectful of our home throughout the two-day job. "We had a great experience with Hudson Cabinetry Design and I highly recommend them. We recently moved to a new apartment that had barely any storage space and thanks to Doug and his team I now have two beautiful built in cabinets and a bookcase that we are enjoying fully. We reached out to Doug Bailor, the owner, because we'd had a terrible experience with another builder. He immediately responded with a visit and then a thoughtful, reasonably-priced proposal while also suggesting some important design adjustments to our original drawings. We liked his ideas so much that we asked him to redesign two of the units. Throughout our projects (two separate installations), Doug was patient, professional and offered smart suggestions.
