"Parents beware!!! You child safety is my concern !!!! So i was employed there for about 2 months! It was ok til it wasn't overall Worst experience of my life! The kids are super amazing, they're smart bright and super sweet! educators are super amazing but in my opinion they can thrive better elsewhere ..... however administration , mainly "the Director" are very unprecedented as well as unprofessional! First off you have the male candidate that should have been gone long ago for mishandling important documents that are under his desk or on the floor and giving parents false information on every level! You ask him a question concerning your child and all he seems to talk about is his degree!!! First off from my previous experience working in a childcare setting it's formal to introduce new staff to parents so that parents and new staff are familiar with one another!!! That didn't happen in this case, but over time parents got familiar with new staff eventually . During graduation and step up ceremonies “ADMINISTRATION AKA THE DIRECTOR.. never once stood up to praise employees for all their hard work and dedication to the students !!!!Secondly to praise staff in private and not in public amongst the parents is a no go for me! Staff continuously work effortless and tirelessly to ensure safety and address any issues cornering students and parents at all cost! Administrators never steeped in to offer assistance and if they did its was from in a chair while sitting in their office! The Director fails miserably by belittling staff and adding old occurrences to try and strengthen her case! This woman berated me in front of colleagues that i was unfamiliar with and when i gave her that same energy in an professional manner in her office she apologized and said " if you feel some kind of way the door is right here! Then she says i I'm sorry I would love for you to stay! That's giving Dr. Jeckel and Hyde vibes! !! Her tone is as if she's speaking to her child (harshly)and not a colleague! Her tone and demeanor as well as her breath are both horrible!!!! Administration continues to fail to communicate with staff and parents effectively! The place was closed down by the Doh 2 times, for me that's an alert!!! When parents had concerns, they wanted answers from administration not from the educators, As we expressed that over and over professionally to the black hearted director,it fell upon deaf ears They were found of many violations concerning the well being for the safety of the kids! You have the maintenance guy collecting free money, he's there at "4Am and you'd think the floors would be mopped and and the rugs vacuumed daily but that's not the case! I've witnessed so many concerns when it comes to cleanliness to this place!!! I've seen that the floors was waxed over already dirty floors!!!!!the only time you see this guy is after lunch or at 2:30 pm emptying garbage and joking with other staff instead of taking care of the building!!!!Can we talk about when there was an air quality alert and the mayor shut down all the schools and cornerstone remained open jeopardizing staff and students health! As i sent the director the email stating the mayor's concerns about the air quality alerts her demeanor and attitude was "well we are privately owned but Department of Education funded!!!! Make this makes sense if you are department of education funded then you should follow Department of Education guidelines and procedures!!!You have staffers who are over worked and underpaid and an owner who's employed by the mayors office and who's not quite interested in how to run a facility!!!! But benefits from it all!!!The director has horrible attitude And unprofessional in how she conducts business!!This place is ran by dictatorship and when workers speak up they are eventually disciplined harshly or terminated with our proper reasoning!! The executive owner holds two positions one at the mayors office and the executive owner of cornerstone daycare and we all know that you cannot hold two positions while working for the mayors office!!!!!"
"My son has been attending the 3-K class for over 2 months. He’s adjusted very well to the new environment and he smiles whenever we talk about his teachers. Already I have seen great progress in his communication skills, academics as well as in bathroom training. He engages in more dialogue using complete sentences, he loves doing his homework and learning how to write. He’s eager to go to school every day. As a educator myself, I am very pleased with the education that my son is receiving and the learning environment provided at Cornerstone."
"My daughter attends this school and it’s really amazing. The Staff is amazing and they communicate throughly through their app which makes it easier for the Parents to follow up. My daughter is in 3K and her teachers are definitely doing a great job communicating throughly through emails, posts on their ClassDojo app, my daughter is in safe hands with this school. My daughter tells me how much she loves her teachers and enjoys the school food, and the daily activities her teachers has planned for her. She knows all of the teachers & they definitely know her. There has been new changes, and I love that for the school. I would recommend this school. I’ve already recommended to my friends who has children younger than my daughter age."
"The school did experience many setbacks during the pandemic which caused a lot of uncertainty for parents. There was a lack of communication between the school and parents and also a high turnover rate of teachers. Under the new management, conditions have drastically improved. Communication is 100% and they now have a very low turnover rate for teachers. The teachers genuinely care about the students. Even the atmosphere has drastically improved. When you walk in, all the schoolwork and pictures of the students are displayed along with the theme for the month, so you never have to guess what your child is working on in school. I love the communication through the school app and how pictures/videos are constantly uploaded in real time of what the kids are doing in school. Overall, a great school and learning environment!"
"My son attended this school last year for 3K. The school was closed down by the Department of Health for about two months (major red flag). When it reopened, the amount of turnover was incredible. I try to extend grace and understanding to all educators working through the pandemic but there is no excuse for the terrible communication we experienced. Parents were rarely made aware of staffing changes (beloved teachers would disappear without a word!) or basic things, like the school calendar. There was never any meaningful acknowledgment of the chaos kids and families experienced and we were constantly scrambling for backup care. I think I only ever received one or two emails from the Executive Director - which seems really bizarre for a school in such turmoil. There is clearly something going on with management, as they cannot retain employees. There are some lovely, caring teachers at this school but none of them end up staying for long. I hope the school improves and learns how to better support their teachers; we’ve heard it was once a gem."
