Reviews of Marymount Manhattan Theater
"It is an unprofessional organization with little concern over students well-being and academic progress. The quality of teaching is mediocre, technology outdated ( had to film with a cassette camera) and there are always lack of space to work on a computer or even sit in the library. I have had good teachers but the majority of faculty is young and can provide you only with most basic knowledge on subject, and that will not let you feel intellectually developing. If you don't know how to write essays, it is the college for you because you will be spending 60,000$ on first 2 years of repeating high-school. This is not what i expect of a higher education establishment. For the money it costs, there is little space to study and no space for leisure or sports ( in fact there are no sports available for non-dancing majors). Moreover despite the already high tuition fee, prices for food are higher than the average student can afford. The campus is miserable as there is little space and everyone crams up in the elevator. Marymount is not a professional educational organization, the student body is immature and vulgar. For those who are not acting or dancing majors, there is nothing for you at this college. Forget about being independent, as the attendance policies will not even let you have sick-leave ( even with a health-center note) , they don't care even if you are doing great in class. In addition, teachers there don't have the decency to return final exams or explain final grades. There is no common-sensed academic system because you will be placed in classes without thought about your academic potential ( i have finished an IB diploma, but they still thought i had to take a class in 7th grade math and i am not exaggerating). My adviser never put real thought to my academic schedule, as she had no knowledge or decency to let me know I'm about to take a Bio class leveled for Science majors and so on. I have also been a witness of bureaucratic firing of a very talented successful motivating professor, because he had the courage to express his opinion to the Board of Directors about the way their huge budget is being spent. It is known that the president of this college is ranked amongst the top of the rating of yearly salaries between all presidents of New York universities. A disaster for me but I warn you: this place will make you as shallow as the majority of student body. Don't go there, it is not worth the money or the effort. It is a positive place for gay and lesbian community though, I appreciated that. However it was at times embarrassing due to their dress-code(high-heels, fur) of some men, not professional at all. Forget about living in their dorm, you will suffocate and suffer."

"This school is great! The teachers, the students and all of the staff in the offices are really helpful, thoughtful and kind. At first I was not sure when I transferred in what this school would be like, but I was happily surprised. It was one of the best experiences of my life."
