Reviews of Sonder The Industrialist
"Clean, perfect for a short stay. Tons of great food nearby. Great if you're in and out with things to do and you're just in it for a place to relax and sleep. Easy to use the TV and Roku. It's small, but if you want bigger, pick a traditional hotel or something. Only room complaint was a bathroom sink with a too-long faucet that gets water on the floor. Christian and co at the front desk were great--I got a delivery while at an event and they got it to my room."
"It’s clean and new, but there are some building issues to consider. 1. The room is very small. Barely enough room to walk around the foot of the bed. Nothing like the first few pics here. More like the last few pics. 2. Housekeeping is loud starting 8am. Not because the housekeepers are loud, but because the halls are echoey and the doors must be thin 3. Shower is less than 2 feet across. You’re always showering with a curtain stuck to one arm 4. The soap really dries your skin out. Bring your own soap 5. Everything in the room is white except for the floor, a sort of desk and the TV. Feels a bit Clockwork Orange 6. Toilet bowl replenished in fits and stars over several minutes. The room is clean, the bed comfy, and the check-in / check-out was easy. Location is great for Park Slope and next to R train."
"I originally had a reservation booked by my company for an overnight work trip in Brooklyn. When I read the reviews and then Googled the location, I called work and asked them to find me a different place. Therefore, I did not stay here. According to my company's travel booking site, we were still charged for the room after canceling (so beware). A few days after the room was booked but before my stay, I received an email telling me to download an app and upload my personal documents. This is when I was suspicious since I've never had a hotel do this before and Googled the location. This is not a true hotel and appears to be a short-term rental real estate company. More searches showed they don't have 24/7 staff and if you arrive after "business hours" good luck. If you do need help, they have a 24/7 helpline but it makes it sound like no one local to assist. I wasn't going to be arriving until around 8pm and this concerned me. If I could have written a review without giving a rating I would have since I didn't actually stay here. The reason I gave it one star (since I had to rate it) is because of the creepy email informing me that they required uploads of personal documentation and then the room was canceled but still charged the full rate."
"No frills, budget stay, in a good location. (2 minutes to union street subway) We seemed to be close to the construction but it was a non issue, no more loud than a city like this would be as is, also they provide ear plus if needed. The bed was comfy, but rather annoying to access with steps to access the inside of the bed There’s no wardrobe for storage, but there is storage under the bed The sink is in the main room (not in the bathroom). The shower is on the smaller size but does the job It’s $35 to get your room cleaned so on a longer stay (we stayed 10 nights) make sure to keep your room tidy TV has a chrome-cast which was nice and the wifi is great. It’s 10 minutes from the Barclays centre (we went to a nets game, recommend!) For the price this room is worth it compared to other NYC accommodations just don’t expect any extras unless there paid for by yourself There’s also a $350 security deposit which seems on the steeper side but is due to be returned 5-7 days after checkout (yet to receive) Front of house staff were fantastic and very friendly! All in all I recommend this hotel as bed was comfy, location was good and it’s decent value."
"Reviews are accurate. Seems like luck of the draw if your room is dirty or loud. My luck was good and my room was fine! Kind of dingy and the shower and sink get water everywhere, but all in all worth it for the price and location. Front desk staff are very nice. I stayed here for a work trip and I probably will again!"
