Reviews of Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott New York Manhattan/Central Park
"Me and My family and I are currently staying at this hotel and we are very impressed by the service and quality. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, always ready to assist us with anything we need. The hotel is in a great location, close to Central Park and many shops and restaurants. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with modern amenities. The breakfast is delicious and varied, with plenty of options to choose from. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting New York."
"We had a very recent 5 night stay at this hotel. We were in a room with a king bed, and there were some negatives and positives. The bed occupied most of the room. No real sitting area. The space between the bed and the long cabinet under the TV (housing the safety deposit box and mini-fridge) was very narrow. The safety deposit box was at the bottom of that cabinet, and would be difficult to access for someone with mobility issues. I had to kneel on the floor, bend down sideways and use my phone's flashlight to enter the code. It was awkward. For those really concerned with safety, the safety deposit box was not anchored to the cabinet. Storage space for clothing was very minimal. Each bedside table should have 3 drawers, instead of one, for extra storage. There were no other drawers. The hanging closet was very small, located beside the bed. No separate closet with sliding doors and an upper shelf by the entrance, as is often found in other hotels. The bathroom has a single sink, which is a bit high for shorter people. Not much storage space in the bathroom. Lighting for application of makeup is suboptimal. My wife and I had carry-on luggages only, so we managed. But there would be no room to store a lot of clothing, or large luggages. On the plus side though, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom has a spacious shower, and temperature control was excellent. There are only 2 elevators, which are painfully slow as compared to many other hotels we've been to. There are signs saying that elevator speed has to meet building specs, but the wait can be frustratingly long for people on higher floors, or those who cannot manage stairs. The front desk staff were superb. We had a few minor issues and requests, which were attended to promptly. Breakfast buffet was included in our stay, and is quite decent. The hotel is in a nice location. Comfortable 30 minute walk to Times Square, 10-15 minutes to Lincoln Centre and Central Park. Overall I'd give a 3 star rating, mostly in relation to the space and storage limitations in this room (#302)."
"Book your visit today that put hospital in hospitality. Elevators 1 star. The absolute worst elevators I’ve ever encountered. After we filled up on our continental breakfast like, wet egg, cereal in gumball machine, sausage that squirts, and yogurt in fridge that gets padlocked at 8:59am. There was a line 15-20 people deep after breakfast time waiting to get up back to your room. Rooms, were small, like a closet. I am platinum elite and the status didn’t even get us an upgrade at all. Will definitely check other hotels to stay with more space and better elevators. That was the only negative about the hotel."
"Lord, the headache this place caused me and my family. The only saving grace was the awesome bartender and the evening manager. I forgot his name, but he was a really buff, tall dark skinned man. They overheard that I was getting married the next day, and they basically comped one of my drinks. We stayed at this hotel because it's close to the port, and my wedding was going to be on the ship at about 10:00 a.m. the next day. Meaning we would have to be at the port by 9:00 a.m. Naturally this means that I was having professional makeup artists come in to do my hair and makeup in the morning of the wedding. The makeup artists needed one bar stool to do what they had to do. So of course, we courteously called the hotel ahead of time when making the reservation to make sure that we were able to borrow a high top stool from them at around 6:00 a.m. in the morning, to be returned around 9:00 a.m. Three measly hours. After a long back and forth with the agent, they finally got a hold of the manager, and the manager said it would be okay. Awesome, great! We also took the time to mention the bar stool when we checked in the day before the wedding. They said it wouldn't be a problem. Awesome, great! Here comes the day of the wedding, and they are fighting with us over the phone over this g****** bar stool, because supposedly the manager was not in for the morning yet in order to approve giving us the precious bar stool. My question is why wasn't this noted on our account or something, anything? Lord have mercy. I think everybody's goal for a wedding is to not stress the already stressed bride out. I had to go down there at the crack of dawn personally just to talk them into giving me this stool. Is he really that serious folks? If the precious stool magically goes missing or gets injured, go ahead and charge me for it instead of having all this back and forth nonsense. This is not to mention the day we arrived to the hotel. Since we were going on a 10-day cruise, you can only imagine the mountain of luggage that we had between the four of us. There was no bellhop anywhere to be seen. My aunt had to go inside and grab the dolly herself, wheel it up the slope, then we had to load it, and we even had to haul that thing into the tiny door, through the tiny hallway, into the tiny elevator and bring it up to our room. There was plenty of staff just standing around quite literally doing nothing, while we were fighting with this bellhop dolly. One of the guys standing around told us where the elevator was and that was about it. They weren't helpful at all. With all that being said, the room was nice, although tiny, and everything was clean. Thank goodness for that, at least."
"Exactly what you need to pay your head. This place isn't fancy but definitely clean and feels very safe. Breakfast was great for hotel/motel style. They accommodated my late arrival after midnight, kept in great communication and answered my emails quickly since I flew in from Texas. The rooms are definitely small but quiet and nice bathrooms. Everyone was friendly and I didn't have any thing to complain about. The elevators are slow, but I'm from Texas, so we aren't as impatient as most, literally never waited more than five minutes. Our view kinda sucked but I didn't reserve a room here for the view, I reserved it to be close to the pier."
