Reviews of Alpine Cinema
"I'm a bit biased because I live close to it. Love that we have a neighborhood movie theater! The renovation is nice. The lobby looks much better now. The seats are still janky AF. At the same time, however, I've only been one time since the renovation, so there may be better seats in other theaters. The one that I was in, I believe theater 3, still has those janky loose seats from before the renovation. They need new seats."
"I really love this movie theater. Kent is closer but alpine is a way better atmosphere and good food. However, they could use improvement on the timing of opening. If you arrive for the first movie of the day, they open less than 10 minutes before the start of the show, leaving you with no time to get tickets or snacks before the start of the movie. Thankfully I purchased my tickets in advance or we would not have made it. I planned on purchasing snacks but while I was waiting I went to the store next store since it took so long to open. Hopefully they will fix this issue."
"I usually only go to this movie theater if the film I want to see isn't playing closer to where I live. I used to come here many moons ago when my mother or father took me here. So, this place has been in business for a very long time. The prices here are cheaper than the average chain movie theater, and the matinee is only $8. The theater is kept clean, with the exception of the occasional popcorn that is thrown around by messy customers, and the bathrooms are either hit or miss if you know what I mean in regards to cleanliness. The seats can be a bit too comfortable as they recline a little too far back. The food and drink prices are what you can expect from any movie theater. Overall, it is a decent neighborhood theater that I would visit again in the future."
"Great local theater! We just had a birthday party there and it was great except when we were late for the movie and another group took all our seats that was suppose be reserved for us. I spoke with the person in charge and she suggested that she can stop the movie and move seats around but how can I inconvenience everyone in the theater for a section that should have been reserved correctly. One tip I would give to the organizers of Alpine is give the reserve seat numbers ahead of time so we know the seats ahead of time instead of the day of the event. Also, I'm not sure what happened to the air conditioner but it was hot in there. We were offered free future tickets for the inconvenience. Otherwise, thank you for making our kids experience memorable. The staff was friendly and helpful."
"Update: I’m updating my review after seeing a number of movies here over the past year. The first reason being the state of the bathrooms are sometimes extremely dirty to the point where I will not step inside the bathroom. They really should have someone checking and cleaning the bathrooms more frequently, especially on the weekends during evening movies. The second reason being that some of the theater goers talk constantly throughout the film as if they were sitting at home in their living room. I recently saw Avatar of the Water and I had to tell the two high school girls sitting behind me multiple times to stop talking during the film. It was very distracting and created an unpleasant experience. This is unfortunately not the first time this has happened. It has come to the point where I would rather just stay at home and stream the film or pay double and go watch a movie in Manhattan, where in my experience there are more people who understand the unspoken rules when seeing a movie. I agree with another review to not attend movies on a Friday night if you actually want to be able to hear the film. Old review: Good small town movie theater in Bay Ridge. Ticket prices for evening showings are $10, which is hard to find in NYC. The movie theaters are generally clean. The cinema is located about a block from the R train."
